A must-have for LSAT prep
I am not aware of any other books that deal exclusively with the logical reasoning section of the LSAT. But it doesn't matter. This book is so comprehensive I'm not sure what the other books could include that this book has not.
Great study aid
This was a great study aid, I'm about half way through but I've already ordered the logic games bible because I'm so impressed. PS does a great job of explaining each question type and provides great hints on how to attack each question. My only suggestion for improvement is to add more lsat question examples, but since sample tests from LSAC are only $8 each you can always supplement your study that way.

Great LSAT Prep
This book seperates all LSAT Logical Reasoning Questions into 18 different types. They tell you what the question stem for each type looks like so you can identify it quickly and effectively use their Powerscore strategy. The book also uses REAL LSAT questions, which most other test-prep books does (which accounts for the high price - just a tidbit of advice, buy it well in advance of the October LSAT, the prices increases about 15 dollars in July).

UNBELIEVABLE RUDE SERVICE!Good luck maintaining business when you don't care for your customers.
I would like to rate this book, however, I was not able to receive it because of poor customer service, lack in help with an address change, and unreliable, rude customer personnel who were unwilling to help me receive my package at an additional address.I am totally appalled and do not plan on using your company for any additional items.If you don't take care of your customers, I don't care to give you business.Oh, and before you send out ratings of purchased items, you might want to check to see if the customer even received the product, which in this case, I didn't.

Few practice problems, too many tips and tricks- unworthy of purchase
I, like many people, bought this book along with a plethora of other GRE prep books (Barrons, Arco, ETS) hoping that a combination of all these books would help me attain the high score I wanted. I figured if one book did a poor job covering one aspect, the others would pick up the slack.
CD- ROM not Mac compatible
This book does not specify on the cover or in on-line descriptions that the CD-ROM is not Mac Compatible.It is finally addressed on page xviii.If you had planned on using quizzeson the disc and have a Mac, you will be disappointed. ... Read more

Tough Full Length Tests
I didnt intend to leave a review...I was infact looking for reviews of this because I gave two full-length tests and was surprised at how difficult the questions in both the quantitative and analytical sections were (Actually more surprised about my low scores). The section tests were comparitively easier.
A gud book to start with
This book is gud to begin with and also a gud book for a person who wants to get a crash course in GMAT preperations.

Not 800, but not bad
GMAT 800 is a very popular book. Whoever at Kaplan came up with the name ought to get a raise and an immediate promotion to the head of the marketing department. Everybody wants an 800, and we'd all like to think that working really hard through the materials in one book will get us there.
Good overview after you have completed all other preperation books
I think this book gives a good overview of the main concepts.This book needs to be completed after you have other GMAT materials, e.g. Kaplat GMAT guide, the Official GMAT Review.The quantitative section covers many of the questions that are very similar to the ones you see in the actual GMAT.These tough questions in quant really helps.The quant questions in the actual GMAT are much harder than the practice questions in official review.However this book covers many of the tougher questions. ... I got into my first choice program with this
In the fall of 2003, I applied to 7 top PhD programs in my field (in the sciences), including the 5 best.Although I had graduated from the top Ivy League university, I had worked for 5 years and wasn't sure how I'd present myself to the graduate programs.I had reasonably good GRE scores, but all of my recommendations were from industry, so I needed to massage my personal statement to reflect strong industrial experience.
To someone who wants to apply graduate school
Summarize the important information from graduate school! To student who wants to apply graduate school, especially for non english speaking students. Author has good sense of humor. He also gives us key points in applying schools and how the schools cope with different students' application.

I found this publication extremely helpful. It was recommended to me by a PhD candidate who had to write multiple essays for admissions applications. science questions too easy
took my DAT this past week and this did not improve my score. The General Science questions in the tests were much easier than the actual DAT. Perhaps the questions were old.Reading Comp was good

All these reviews are pretty accurate!
I read other reviews and decided to purchase this item. I must say that all of the reviews were pretty accurate. It was a wonderful tool, it had some problems (ex: wrong answer to a couple of questions), but was pretty true to the actual form of the DAT. Word up.

TopScore DAT software
If you're going to prepare for the DAT, purchasing this software is still a good idea. However, please be aware of certain weaknesses of this software, as there are some: 1) After taking the real DAT, I realized the science sections of this software were more difficult, partly due to the highly specific nature of the questions. 2) I noted that there were an annoying number of incorrect answers on the PAT sections of this test. A portion of the sample questions were clearly variations of those on the official test. Yet, some of these figures were misdrawn, (esp on the top-front-end sections) such that diagrams contradicted each other. NOT GRE Math Subject test
I made the mistake of thinking that "GRE Math" meant "GRE Math Subject test" which it DOESN'T. This book is for the math section of the general GRE and NOT for the GRE math subject test.

This workbook rocks!
With no review and almost 20 years since I last looked at algebra and geometry I got 360 on the GRE math section.With 4 weeks of review using this book I got 570!Imagine what you could do with longer!I highly recommend this workbook.Its easy to follow,the methods are very clear and detailed.It teaches you a few tricks of the trade that are simple and effective.Well worth the money.

Provides all the information required for an 800 score
This book provides a solid preparation for all the concepts tested on the GRE quantitative section either if you don't know them or just want to recall them.

Don't bother
This book is absolutely HORRIBLE. Everything was just WAY too easy. The biology and chemistry portions consist of one-liners that barely scratch the surface of a topic. The spatial aptitude review problems are way too easy to even compare to anything you would see on the actual DAT. Plus, there aren't alot of them to practice on. I have never felt more "scammed" in the purchase of a book. I can't believe that such a well respected company like Kaplan would dare publish a test aid that was so watered-down. ... Read more

The Best Book on the Subject (... and I read a lot)
I read a lot of books about MBA admissions.Your MBA Game Plan was the shortest, simplest ... and by far, the best!
Too basic, Montauk is much better
This book is simply too short and generic to be of use. As an applicant, I can confidently say that the Montauk book ("How to get into the top MBA Programs") is much more comprehensive and overall better. If you want more specific info on the top programs (i.e. so you can tailor your essays or prepare for interviews), complement Montauk with "ABC of Getting the MBA Admissions Edge". Although at first blush "Your MBA Game Plan" aims to cover both the fundamentals, like Montauk, and the specifics like "ABC", it falls short on both counts. The only good thing about this book (compared to the other two) is that it is small and light, so easy to carry anywhere :)

A Clear and Concise Guide on How to Write a Successful Statement for your Application Package

a MUST for all students applying to graduate school.
This book was EXCELLENT. I had read two other books before this one, and was disappointed. Though they claimed to be good for grad apps, they were clearly geared toward undergraduate application essays. This book asks thought-provoking questions that help to bring to light relevant experiences and skills that you may have left out. It is great as far as taking you through the process of brainstorming, writing, and revising, but also explains how to write a good essay even if the deadline is looming. It was very good at helping me to organize my thoughts and feel like a good essay was just around the corner - which did wonders for calming my anxiety about the process. The examples in the book were also very helpful, and this is the first book I have seen that had sections dedicated to specific programs (medical, law, business, etc.) THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!

Personal Statement 101
In "How to Write a Winning Personal Statement for Graduate and Professional School", Mr.Stelzer concisely elucidates how one must bring out an original yet refreshing personal statement. 90% of the sample essays are geared towards the Big 3- Law, Medical, and Business. For students interested in other programs like myself, there are several takeaways one could get from this book. I would strongly suggest using the questionnaires in the Appendix. I learned several things from the pages on advice from admissions representatives. I would also suggest reading all the sample essays first and then the introductory chapter which would help one lay out the groundwork for an original personal statement. Different is not always bad
When I saw this book in the store, I had the same thought as previous reviewers.I thought that I would rather have actual cards instead of words in a book.But it actually works pretty well for me.The book is designed such that you fold the corner of a page when you master the word.So, after I complete a certain number of words, I go back through them randomly, skipping some, but always going over the pages that are not folded.
an okay product, but not as efficient as it could be
I purchased last year's edition, where you bought an entire book (the same size as a regular GRE review book) which had nothing but pages full of pull-apart flashcards. I much prefered that format as you could actually tear the cards out and have small flashcards with all of the information on them. I do not like the flipbook method of studying vocabulary becuase then you begin to remember paterns, not definitions.

Not very efficient
As other reviews have said, the "flipbook" method is just entirely inefficient when it comes to memorizing words. Even back in elementary school when I was using flashcards, I realized my brain often does not memorize the word itself as much as the order, and with this book it is no different. Also, the two words per page is kind of annoying, and I just don't see why they could not just give us normal, real flashcards. They are so much more efficient! Overall I really would not recommend this. It's too bad there really aren't any good GRE flashcards for sale; Thankfully it won't really matter after next summer when the GRE changes to be more about actual verbal intelligence and less about memorizing words that hardly anyone uses... ... vocab words for small word turds
This product has greatly helped me improve my vocabulary skills for the GRE.It does a good job of teaching the most effective ways to build your vocabulary for the test in a way that does not involve memorising but instead involves learning.

Kaplan's GRE Verbal Workbook

The Perfect Review
I have been doing math continuously in college, but even then, I could not remember how to do the basics required of the GRE. This book was a perfect way to get reacquainted with the technical minutia, and even if I knew it, the book gave me the practice I needed to do the math quickly and efficiently. I would highly recommend this as a refresher, but it is too easy as a primary course of study for the quantitative section. The best part is all the problems are explained in detail, so one can simply follow along. THe entire book took me a week to do, and it was definitely worth purchasing along with another GRE book. Although the other books go through reviews as well, they just teach you the questions on the test. However, you won't get them if you can't manipulate numbers quickly enough, and thereby you won't have the ability to go through the more diffcult questions.

Thought all math texts were horrid...until this book.
I am working on studying and taking my GMAT exam and I always struggled with math.I found a lot of this was due to the fact that incompetent individuals taught and ONLY showed you the text book examples which only managed to show the EASIEST question.For example what do you do with polynomials with inverse exponents if you (like me) don't generally toil with text book math in my spare time Good study guide

Ignore the scores . . . as hard as that may be!
First of all, I'd like to thank all of you who posted reviews with reassuring stories of scoring in the 500's on the Kaplan tests, only to break into the 700+ territory on the real deal.I used this book, as well as the Kaplan GMAT 800 book to prepare, followed by the GMATPrep tests in the final week before the exam.

I can't even tell you how many books I have purchased that claim they offer only info. relavant to the MCAT and nothing more...in which they wind up giving you all the superfluous stuff that *may* be on the MCAT.

Same as previous edition
As the writer above says, this is exactly the same as the previous edition.I have the previous edition and was hoping for an updated exam in this book, but the practice exam is exactly the same.If you haven't any editions, I definitely recommend this book.

DO NOT BUY!!!!
For those of you who are considering taking the Biology GRE subject test, please do not buy this version. It is virtually the same at the older (2nd) edition which is a lot cheaper than this one. Don't be fooled by Kaplan and the so-called 2007-2008 edition. I repeat, this version is virtually the same as the previous edition. Quick review which saves time
The vocabulary words in this set have appeared on several of the practice tests I've taken. The math basics were helpful to review. Memorizing these cards filled in some missing pieces and made me feel much more prepared to take the test.

Errors on study cards
Hello, fellow suffering students preparing for the GRE. I cannot recommendthese study cards! I found several errors in the math cards; some simplemisprints and some calculation errors. On the verbal cards some words wouldbe listed in the adjective form while the definition was given for thenoun, and vice versa. I found them to be very detrimental and began toconsult my dictionary for many of them. Surprisingly useful
For years, Kaplan produced a math workbook that covered both GRE and GMAT material, which was an endless source of confusion for students. While those two tests have a lot of similarities, the question types and difficulty levels merited separate books, and Kaplan has finally provided that.

GREAT BUY
I waited till 3 days before the GRE bio to prepare. I did it by reading this book. The stuff in this book very closely aligns with what is on the test. As long as you know your stuff and paid attention in class it offers just enough detail of a review to jog all your memories.
Good tool for test prep
I found that Kaplan's bio GRE review book accurately represented the contents of the test. It gives a good review of the material covered on the GRE (although with a few minor errors) and the practice test was very similar in content, structure, and difficulty to the real one.
OK Book, Besides Freshman Biology!
I just took the GRE Bio Subject test in November. I used Kaplan, the test booklet produced by ETS, Princeton Review Cracking the GRE and my Campbell's Biology from freshman Biology in college. Of all books, I found the Campbells Biology the most helpful. Second was Kaplan. Check out my review for P. Review book, because the vocab list at the back was very helpful, and so was the practice test, but the rest of that book was worse than terrible. I am not sure of my score yet, but I know that many things I studied were on this test, it was a typical rehash of all that nit picky stuff like the difference between prokaryotic and eukaryotic flagella to the intricate details of sarcomeres.
