5-0 out of 5 stars A New Hope: Cliffs AP Biology
This has to do be one of the best reviewbooks, if not the best, for the AP Biology Exam.Although I worked very hard throughout the entire year, I needed a good review a couple weeks before the AP.All of my classmates had this book, and they loved it?Well, it is an excellent summary of all of the things learned in AP Bio.It presents only the most important terms, concepts, people, and experiments. It follows the structure of the Campbell Biology books. In essence, its information matches exactly what is in all of these books. It condenses and simplifies all topics and makes them comprehensible to even the lay reader. Its summaries last for around 200 pages. After that, it moves onto the twelve required AP experiments and explains them in short yet precise paragraphs. This really helps, especially if you have not done all of the experiments throughout the year.In the end, it provides practice test questions and their answers and explains the answers thoroughly.I forgot: there are practice questions at the end of each chapter to check-up on your comprehension. In the end, I read the Cliffs AP from beginning to end, looked over our handouts, read all my class notes, took practice APs, went over all of the experiments, and looked over key areas in my textbook. It paid off in the end: I got a 5.Because of this book, I had no doubt in my mind what I would get on the AP exam.Go in peace, my brothers and sisters.

5-0 out of 5 stars BEST BOOK FOR PREPARING FOR THE AP BIOLOGY TEST!
I did not learn anything in my AP Biology class because my teacher was... not that great. Three weeks before the exam, I started studying. This book was the most helpful. It has great preparation questions and practice essays. It gives just the right amount of information needed to ace the test...nothing more, nothing less. Reading this book was the main reason I got a 5 on the exam. I would also recommend reading the barron's ap biology book along with this one and maybe another book for extra practice questions. That's all you need to ace this test. Good luck!

5-0 out of 5 stars One of two great books for stressed out parents
As parents who have seen many of our friends completely lose perspective as their kids apply to college, my wife and decided that we would not go down that road when our time came. Forget all the books that imply they will get your child into a "brand name" school. It's about discovering together a place where they can grow, and strenghtening your relationshipas you launch them toward their future. In the name of sanity, I recommend this book (and also a great one our own pediatrician recommended, "Getting In Without Freaking Out.") Stop hovering -- start helping your kids by not imposing your agenda.

5-0 out of 5 stars An essential book for parents of high school students
As a pediatrician and the mother of a senior, I see the unhealthy stress that my patients and some classmates of my son go through during high school, particularly during their senior year. This essential book for every high school parent will give them new models for guiding their child to healthy success.Rather than defining success for your high school student as getting into a college ranked high by a magazine, parents will learn how to help their child define and reach their own goals. For those who choose college, they need a parent's help to find the right match --- a school that allows them to grow intellectually, emotionally, and socially.

3-0 out of 5 stars Very good in some aspects but yet very bad in others
First off, this book offers one of the most wide ranged practice tests available for the SAT. This extensive amount of practice allows for a user to sufficiently prepare for the SAT; however, what makes this book so bad is that most of the tests that are given are hold KAPLAN tests. If u have bought 2005 or 2006 SAT Books from KAPLAN ud find the exact same problems and tests. Although most of the tests are the ame, the overall review for english and math is by far one of the best out there next to Princeton Review and Barrons. I recommend this book if u have never purchased a KAPLAN SAT book before or just 1, but if you have purchased a recent SAT book by KAPLAN i would ABSOLUTELY not recommend this book unless you want some of the same practice tests ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Better Than I Expected
When I bought this book, I wondered how a book could help you review for the AP Lit exam, since there are no facts to really cover like in other exams. However, this book is extremely useful for those seeking a high score. It brings you step by step through the process of writing prompts, pointing out important details and giving a plethora of examples. The tips on the multiple choice questions allow you to review all the major terms you need and offers many opportunities to test yourself, with the why behind the answer included.Plus, you will feel better about the test because it is written by a former test writer. This makes it feel like you can trust what he is saying about the test, and I do not remember him being wrong once when it came to the actual exam.In conclusion, buy this book or don't buy one at all.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great "Review" Book
This book is the 2nd Algebra book that I bought. I am the type of person who goes beyond what is given to me. This book is a great book for review purposes. I am over half way through the year in Algebra 1 and already know how to do everything that will be taught to me by the end of the year. I have really learned a lot from these books and I will say, that this is a great book for anyone that is studying Algebra.

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't bother with other brands of PSAT guides
I orginally bought The Kaplan and Princeton Review guides together this summer. Until about three weeks before the test the only book i had gone through of the two was the Princeton Review, which i had completed while watching TV one night. It had some ideas, but truely it wasn't anything i couldn't have figured out myself. When i took a practice test at school one day, i did really poorly, had trouble with the Read Comphresnion questions, i couldn't finish that many math problems, and overall struggling. So i went home and found this book, the point of the wookbook is to help you get a better score. It taught me how to break down the two article read comphernsions. Everything in this book is useful, even the english section which i was already confident in. There is alot of coverage on all sections, so it's really up to you if you need more work some sections than others. Also another quality i like is there are practice problems in the lessons, so you don't have to pull out a pratice test and check the answers after each chapter. Seriously if your looking for a PSAT guide there isn't anything better than Kaplan. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good IF your kid is a hyper-mega-achiever
This book is very useful if your kid has 800 SAt scores, an A avergae, and has discovered a cure for a fatal disease (well, practically!). if you have a bright, well-rounded normal kid who maybe hasn't hit their peak by age 17, though, pay attention to its real message -- the Ivys are NOT within the realm of reality. So be it. To find out what to do next, and to hold on to your sanity and humor while you do, see a great new book, GETTING IN WITHOUT FREAKING OUT

5-0 out of 5 stars A is for Admissions
This is probably the most helpful book that I have read about college admissions, because it gives real information instead of just maintaining the party line. It shows just how important standardized test scores are in the process and gives you the equation to figure out how you stack up against other ivy league hopefuls. I found this to be extremely enlightening. I would recommend this to anyone who is seriously considering applying to an top 20 college.

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding!
One of the finest books on competitive college admissions that I have ever read!As a public school guidance counselor, I have worked with many students who have gone through the process.I am constantly recommending this book to my most motivated students and their parents as I find it to be well organized and technical enough to help a reader understand the nuances of the Academic Index. The fact that the author was a Director of Admissions at an Ivy allows the reader to "peek behind the curtain."I highlighted the important points and went back after reading it and found that nearly every page has a significant point on it!If you are a motivated student or the parent of one who will be seeking out admissions at a competitive college - this book is a must read. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent guide!!!
As I was reading the other reviews of this book, I could already see the success this book's advice is giving to high school students, especially to seniors. My mom suggested this book to me, and I could have never imagined what a gift it would turn out to be. Applications are all about how you look on paper, and this book gives any student who follows its suggestions a leg up on the competition, especially in the crucial essay-writing phase. So many college prospects find themselves hampered by essays and struggle with them. Taking suggestions such as these into consideration can certainly make or break an application. I also applied to Princeton University early, and I was also accepted. I truthfully do not know what my life would be like now without this book. Thank you Dr. Hernandez for your insights and solid advice.

5-0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended
After being accepted early decision to Princeton University, I had to write a review of this book!I was fortunate enough to find it near the beginning of my junior year of high school, and it stayed with me right up through the agonizing process of completing applications and ultimately gaining admission from my top choice school.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent with many valuable details on the topic
Michele Hernandez is one of the best private college counselors in the nation. She is also the author of the excellent college guide "A is for Admission."This book is one of the best among the 10 ones I have read."Acing the College Application" is not as rich in insights and information as "A is for Admission."This is because it is focused on a more mechanical and narrow topic (how to best fill the actual application so as to maximize your chances).

4-0 out of 5 stars Great but with a few flaws
Overall, this book is great. Everything is pretty clear and it makes algebra II almost easy. However, there are many typos I found, like forgetting a negative, or using a wrong variable. but otherwise, it's awesome!

4-0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Review or Preparatory Book For Algebra II

5-0 out of 5 stars Friggin' Incredible.
This book got me through a very grueling high school chem class. It is very easy to understand. I can't put my finger on it, but something about the way this book is written just makes understanding come naturally for me.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great resource!
This book is very helpful for people trying to grasp the basics of chemistry.I'm one who really loves science, but I get a little bogged down in the details and calculations involved, so this book helped me get through the tough math.To me it reads like a textbook, only it cuts out all the filler, so it's very easy to find what I'm looking for, and the descriptions are clean and to the point.

5-0 out of 5 stars Chemisty Cliff's notes
This book is a great SUPPLEMENT to a intro chemistry course, it is not a repleacement for instruction. i found this book to be a very good resource for quick reference. I am a little biased though, since one of the authors was one of my college professors. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Preparing for the CLEP
Thie book was very helpful with the basics. I just passed the CLEP today and got a 67 (out of 80). You need a 50 to pass for most schools. If you want to pass this CLEP Irecommend purchasing online practice tests. I bought one from the official CLEP webiste. The questions on that practice exam are very close to the ones that you will find on the CLEP exam. Also, I purchased a practice test from petersons.com. These questions were definitely harder, but really get you preapared for the CLEP. Once you take those, the CLEP is a breeze. Good luck!

4-0 out of 5 stars CLEP Preparation
This book has a good overview of the basic concepts of Economics, but little examples of how to apply these terms to the type of exam questions on the CLEP test.It was helpful to me because I had little knowledge of Economics, so I used it to get a basic understanding of the terms. But, I had to seek other sources to learn how to apply them.Using the www.petersons.com, electronic test prep with this book enabled me to pass the test! ... Read more
