So Frustrated!
I decided to enter a teaching program in July and learned that I would need to take PRAXIS on August 5th. I ordered this book from Amazon on July 1. Shipment kept getting delayed until the point that my order was listed as not shipping until after I took the test! I cancelled the order and tried to order directly from ETS, makers of the PRAXIS exam. After two weeks of waiting on them, I gave up. All along, I had checked out literature anthologies and literary handbooks from the library. I am so disappointed in Amazon, although the blame might lie with ETS for a lack of production. I thought this book would at least help me feel more secure, but it's not to be. Again, my recommendation is to browse literary terms, grammar books and anthologies of literature ... and know that even ordering a month in advance of the test might not be enough time to allow you to receive the study materials. Good luck!

SAVE YOUR MONEY!
I just took this test on Saturday, and let me tell you I was extremely let down. I thought buying this book would be the greatest thing since sliced bread and it would be so helpful in my studying, etc. Well, it fails to let you know that one third of the actual Praxis II exam has to do with diagramming sentences and syntax. I know how to write a simple sentence, but I don't remember what a gerund is and where to put the adverb in a sentence when I am under pressure. The practice test in the book focuses mostly on what you have read and how well you can recognize writing styles. I was completely unprepared for the grammar section and it left me feeling like I failed. If you're really worried about the reading list I suggest picking up the Praxis book for the composition part of the test, which was much more helpful than this waste of $20.

Next Best Thing to Buying the Answers
I was scheduled to take the English Praxis after not having taken a college English class since 1992, and was desperate for a study guide. This study guide provided excellent sample questions and tips in the right directions for independent research. Examkrackers Chemistry
This is a very good book. Amazon shipped it right away, in excellent condition. This book will help you get ready for the MCATs by acting as your very own tutor. I recommend getting all of the Examkracker series.

Great for high yield review
To get into Med school after 15yrs in business I took my Organic Chem series over again, studied Exam Kracker's 101 series until I knew the books cold, listened to EK's Audio Osmosis about 10 times while communiting then took several full length practice tests.
Excellent.Do be fooled by other texts, this rocks!!!
First of all, if you consider yourself a 'pre-med' and serious about the MCAT, then as such you probably would've done some research about your products you are using... judging from the other reviews, they have not.

Don't bother
This book is absolutely HORRIBLE. Everything was just WAY too easy. The biology and chemistry portions consist of one-liners that barely scratch the surface of a topic. The spatial aptitude review problems are way too easy to even compare to anything you would see on the actual DAT. Plus, there aren't alot of them to practice on. I have never felt more "scammed" in the purchase of a book. I can't believe that such a well respected company like Kaplan would dare publish a test aid that was so watered-down. ... Read more

Better than nothing-- but buy it "used"
This book was written to help you prepare for the LPN pre-entrance exam, and is divided into Math, Vocabulary, and Science sections.There are plenty of practice questions for each section as well as 3 complete practice tests.Answers are explained.The reviews are very basic and assume you already have a strong background in Math/Science.You may have to supplement the review with other material, as I did, say, for Biology.

Waited for 8 weeks to receive this product.
This product sucked because I definitely ordered it about 3-4 weeks prior to the mcat.

A must for MCAT study on the go
The person who made the previous post obviously didn't look very hard at the book or try to study with it, or they would have realized that the definitions upside-down beneath the words are NOT the definition to THAT word. This is a long, thin book of flashcards with a vocab word on the Front of the page and the definition on the Back of the same page. The book does go upside down, but this is because there are more words/defs printed upside-down, therefore using the entire page (since the single word/definitions only take up half a page). So the book read right-side up is Chem, and the book held upside down and read normally is half Chem and half Physics.

THE BEST RESOURCE
I received nearly perfect scores in all areas of the exam.The testing center Proctor noted that she had never seen such high exam scores!GRE For Dummies prepatory exams were nearly IDENTICAL to the ACTUAL exam.I cannot say enough about this book!

This book was helpful in explaining the areas where I needed to improve my skills to take the GRE.

Pretty good
I loved the author's jokes and formats of this book. I was disappointed in the lack of math problems to solve and that there wasn't any review problems after each math section, as there is with the verbal section. Life saver
This book helped me cope with the issues blocking my progress on my dissertation. I finally felt like I wasn't alone! I developed some good strategies to overcome what everyone who has to work and live and love and write a dissertation all at the same time faces.

Eh--- not so much
I am a doctoral candidate and basically this book is not telling me how to write my dissertation and complete it giving 15 minutes a day to the writing (let alone the research) but really how to overcome blocks and start writing. Haven't we all been there, done that already?To me, this book didn't offer anything I hadn't already read, figured out or been taught. Perhaps it would be a good book for procrastinators, but not for me.

It got me thinking...
I really appreciate this book.I have a few other books on writing my dissertation and had started the process.Unfortunately, I had also bogged down.The book helped me get going again.The author offers simple ideas, but I actually tried them out and started writing.That is the secret to writing, just write.Simple but dramatic.And I started, as suggested, writing questions and comments to myself on the process of the dissertation.The more I put things down, the more clear they became to me.Amazing.I have really enjoyed this book.Great ideas and the motivation I needed. ... Excellent Review Book
I very strongly advise you buying this book if you wish to do well on the AP Exam. My teacher was completly useless (he never taught, we never took tests,and we never wrote any practice essays or took any practice AP exams). Nevertheless, I purchased this book and read through it and did the practice exams the weekend before the AP exam. I scored a 5 on this exam and have no doubt that I could not have acheived this without this book. I even belive it would be very possible to get a 5 on the AP exam without taking the class ifyou read this book (I didn't read one single chapter in the actual AP textbook). I don't, however know whether this book would help you do well in the actual class since our teacher didn't make us do anything or attempt to teach us anything, he just gave everyone a 99 in the class.

I'm Ready For Pass The Exam
This is a wondeful book, i can tell that by may 2007 i'm ready to pass the Advanced Placement Biology Exam with a 4 or 5

The Best Book on the Subject (... and I read a lot)
I read a lot of books about MBA admissions.Your MBA Game Plan was the shortest, simplest ... and by far, the best!
Too basic, Montauk is much better
This book is simply too short and generic to be of use. As an applicant, I can confidently say that the Montauk book ("How to get into the top MBA Programs") is much more comprehensive and overall better. If you want more specific info on the top programs (i.e. so you can tailor your essays or prepare for interviews), complement Montauk with "ABC of Getting the MBA Admissions Edge". Although at first blush "Your MBA Game Plan" aims to cover both the fundamentals, like Montauk, and the specifics like "ABC", it falls short on both counts. The only good thing about this book (compared to the other two) is that it is small and light, so easy to carry anywhere :)

An excellent book to learn physics, not for the SAT II
This book is an excellent source to learn about almost every aspect of physics.It touches base on things that are not taught in the high school curriculum. I took a year of regents physics and am taking IB physics this year and the book helped a lot.However, the practice problems and in depth information in this book is NOT ON THE PHYSICS SAT II.I took the test a few months ago and the test is nothing compared to the book.Yes it will overprepare you for the test, but if you don't have time to read and study all of those pages, theres no reason to.I'm sure there are other books out that will teach you all you need to know.Again, excellent book, but for the person who just wants to ace the test and nothing more, its a waste of time and energy trying to understand it all.It is not an easy read for an average student. I got a 780 on the test and most of the questions are all on concepts, maybe about 8 percent of the test had actual math problems where you had to work stuff out, and you really don't need to know that many formulas. All in all its a great book to impress your physics teacher and grasp many concepts but not the best for the test.

While not flawless, an excellent book to use
I started reviewing with this book for the SAT Physics Subject Test only three days before I had to take it. While I had taken one year of regular physics in school, we never had to memorize the equations for our tests. This book did an excellent job of condensing all the information needed, and its explanations were clear and concise. The review problems were challenging but ensured a thorough understanding of the concepts, and the provided solutions to the practice tests were easy to understand.

Outmoded!
While this book is a good start for learning analogies and reviewing math, it's a horrid way to prepare for the actual experience of taking the exam. The distribution of sections--in number, length, and appearance of a research section--has changed since the publication of this text, and it doesn't prepare you for the fact you'll be doing everything on a computer on the Big Day.

Great Introduction Or Refresher
"The Cartoon Guide to Physics", first published in 1990, is one of a series of Cartoon Guides which Larry Gonick has co-authored with scientists in the field of choice; in this case it is with Art Huffman who is in the physics department at UCLA.Outside of Larry Gonick's excellent "Cartoon History of the Universe" series, this is the best of his books that I have read.
Good for a beginner
If you are simply interested in better understanding the basic concepts of physics, this is the book for you.I have found that if you're just looking to supplement a little knowledge w/o being a physics buff most people can read and understand the info here and the format is less intimidating.
Didactic and entertaining!!
This is essentially a comic book, yet it is able to communicate the fundamental laws of physics taught in an introductory high school physics course and some taught in college such as relativity.Overall, the book is enjoyable and humorous.However, the constraints of actually teaching the material through the drawings do impose on the humor sometimes.The book is accurate, as far as I can tell, and allows one to gain some understanding on how things work, from how the tides come about, to the motion of a gyroscope, to the Theory of Relativity.One disclaimer that I must add, that should be obvious, is that unless you are sufficient in mathematics (genius) you will not know all the consequences that come out from these laws other than the ones provided to you.I would have to recommend this for people over 12 years old, those who want to learn a little physics in a fun and entertaining way. ... Hmmm...the others are right, probably not worth the cost
The test in this book is pretty simple compared with the real thing...this is simply echoing the other reviewers, I know, but the book wasn't published before I purchased it or I may not have purchased it either.One suggestion, though:in studying for this test, review everything the test provider tells you to study, but do it in far more depth than any practice test they give you.It will be worth the time, effort, and especially the money!

Don't waste your money
If you are preparing for the mathematics content knowledge assessment test, I would not recommend purchasing this book.It does not really give you any more information concerning study topics than the free literature on the website.The actual test seemed a lot more difficult than the book's practice test, which could give you a false sense of confidence and cause insufficient time management.Also, the study tips aren't anything you've never seen before.Finally, if you do purchase this book, at least you can sell it and get some of your money back!

Don't bother
The problems presented in this study guide are not as difficult as the ones you'll do on the math content knowledge test. For a practice test I'd just use the free one provided by the ets website rather than waste money on this book. ... Read more

Passed with Excellence, but this book offered minimal help.
I bought this book thinking that it would help me study the material on the PLT, but it is only summary of the topics the test covers. It is meant to be used as a guide to show a test-taker what to study from textbooks and other sources.
PASSED TEST!!!
This book has an outline of the informantion that you will need on the test.This way you are not studying topics that are not on the test and wasting valuable study time. It also shows the format of the test, sample questions, answers, and grading. All of the information that is on the test is not in this book, but was easily found on the internet.It is a great guide to know what to study for.

Useful...if you follow the directions
This book is very useful, but keep this in mind:it does not actually contain many useful facts.It is an outline of what to study and several useful tips on how to study it.Besides this book you will need a source of information on teaching theory.Your college textbooks work nicely, as does a well-stocked library.

This one is the Best review!!
As a teacher of AP Stats for 7 years, I have found this book to be the best and I encourage my students to purchase it. I love the questions at the end of each section and the fact that answers are explained in detail for not only the free response, but multiple choice. The practice exams at the end are also wonderful and it tells how to get a score for your efforts. This book has become my "stat bible" for my reviews leading up to that first week in May! Thanks to Barron's!

The book's jacket announces somewhat presumptuously: "students on campus tell you what you really want to know."
great resource for first-timers
This book provides a good basic set of data and student comments on most of the colleges we're considering.A good companion is "Students' Guide to Colleges," which covers only the top 100 colleges, but is brutally honest.This Insider's Guide tends to present a pretty positive view of each college, although it provides a little more insight than just looking at the college's own website or viewbook.The Insider's Guide has colleges grouped by state.I think Insider's Guide gives us useful information about each college: the physical campus, the dorms and food, the use of drugs and alcohol, the types of activities students typically enjoy (sports, arts, whatever).

Buy the 2006
I think it's disgusting the lack of research Yale Daily News put into this 2007 guide.There are a hundred things wrong with this guide, but just from opening to the school I go to (University of Delaware), and seeing that one of the things I have to do before I graduate is "go to the Stone Balloon," I could tell this book was just a new cover to the 2006 with updated admissions statistics.The Stone Balloon, a historic University of Delaware Bar and Music Hall, announced more than a year ago that it was going to be knocked down and replaced by condiminiums on Main Street.This was true, and it was closed for the spring, and camera crews were there at the beginning of the summer to see huge bulldozers knock it over.Pretty sad that NO ONE will be able to fulfill the Insider's Guide's instructions.Sweet life Yale...do some research and stop making money reprinting the same "best-selling" book each year ... An adequate option
This study guide is ok, but not great. Because it was published in 2003, and probably written in 2002, I think that some of the information is outdated. A list of study topics are provided but not the information that goes with the topic. The practice test is ok but there were a few answers I did not agree with. (and this could be due to newer research than the book has) I would have liked a second practice test.

THE ULTIMATE US REVIEW
Thanks to this review book, I ended up with a 5! Our AP teacher called this "the review bible" and used this book constantly in class. It's even good for class tests! My friend was failing those until she started reviewing with this book...and her grade improved significantly. The best part of this book is the tests. They ask questions that are definetly comparable to AP level questions, and the best thing is to ALWAYS read the section that explains to you why you are right or wrong on a question.
