what's with all the typos?
i'm just starting off on this book and already in the FIRST chapter i've come across a number of serious typos. for instance, questions #3 and #4 of the chapter 1 review questions both have ridiculous typos:
"I'm not feeling it dog, it's just a'ight"
Much better the second time around.The first time you complete a chapter and the exercises that follow, you think to yourself "there is no way I am going to be ready for the test by *pick a test date* ".But the second time through, your confidence has been raised, your memory refreshed, and you have become ready to do some serious damage.

Great way to jump start your MBE study
This book provides a strategic way to take MBE questions with an intro of what topics are tested within each subject and then an exam tactics section of what to look for in the questions.Then there are detailed answers for each question so you can look to see why the wrong answers are not correct.I would recommend this to anyone preparing for the Bar Exam, my bar study professor recommended to begin using this book our last semester of school before we actually began heavily studying for the exam, it was good advice! ... Spent an hour unsuccessfully trying to access the free online test
Don't buy this book for the online test. The registration code in the book didn't work. They sent another after I called. Then, after filling in several really annoying registrations forms multiple times (each time I logged in I had to repeat the same forms to "confirm" the information-and you have to fill out every annoying field!), another phone call and much frustration, I still haven't been able to access the free online test. Over an hour wasted. UGH!

Full of Errors
Supposed to be instucting us toward "flawless" GRE performance???How can they charge that much for something with an inexcusable number of errors?I printed the corrections sheet from their website which covered only a few of the many errors in the book.In the section on "tricks" to doing GRE math problems, I found ways to solve the the practice problems that were missed in the answers section!(And I didn't do all that well on the math part of the test.)What does this tell us about the level of the people writing the answers?!Sorry, but it's just annoying!These people are making the big bucks off all of us!

So good I buy the Barron's SAT books all the way from Australia
I'm an after-school tutor, and teach general English to Aussie school students. I use all the Barron's SAT workbooks to help improve the students' vocabulary, writing, comprehension and reading. This "Critical Reading Workbook" is great, with plenty of practice in sentence completion, comprehension questions and vocabulary extension. The practice exams at the back of the book are excellent for mastering exam technique, and the explanation section for the answers is very helpful. English is never taught this way in Australia, but it should be. All my students feel they learn more from studying one Barron's workbook than they do from doing a whole year of English lessons at school.

It has everything it's supposed to: not too much nor too little

Pointless for 0043
I signed up to take the PRAXIS 0043 English exam. I ordered this book thinking it would help. Delivery was prompt, but the problem is the book's content. For 0043, you're writing two essays. The questions are always the same. You can see the questions by downloading a free Test-At-A-Glance from the ETS website. The only difference is the material you'd be asked to respond to. You can use the suggested list on the free download or any high school reading list and practice writing from there. Even in this book, the practice test offered ten choices of works for response; only three were on their suggested reading list (which is noted as NOT being exhaustive). The section showing how sample essays are graded could be helpful, but out of a possible ten essays, for instance, only one is shown being graded, which doesn't much help you if you wrote on any of the other works. The student response section is fairly self-explanatory; just make sure you thoroughly respond to each part of the question. Overall, I was so bummed to have paid this much for a study guide, to have been made to believe that the guide is written by the ultimate authorities of the test, and to have discovered that it was a big waste.

You want this if you're taking the test!
I took the Praxis on Saturday, and I was totally unprepared for the content part of the test, and I did buy that book (see review on that page). HOWEVER, I STRONGLY recommend purchasing this book if you are taking any part of the Praxis II English exams. For one thing, this book gives you not one, but TWO reading lists, and they are actually books with titles (versus the other book which gives you a list of 20 or so authors and no clue as to what part of their works will be on the exam). This book also gives you a good idea as to what will be on the test, not so much as the exact same questions, but the practice test included gives you a good idea of what they are looking for in your answers in order to maximize your score. I felt much better prepared for the exam by having used this book and the reading lists included. ... Read more

Sanity-saving read!
In NOrthern Virginia, it's possible to start obsessing about colleges when your kids are still in kindergarten -- but this book provides a wonderful dose of reality.No, you won't "die" if your child doesn't get into Princeton or UVA and you might even find yourself shocked by the great education he or she can get elsewhere!(And apparently you don't have to torture them with SAT guidebooks in the intervening 10 or so years before they apply to make this dream a reality!)
Steer clear of this outdated guide
Read the first paragraph in the book and then run.Pope's argument can be stated in a single sentence:small, liberal arts colleges throughout the U.S. can provide an excellent education.However, he ruins his credibility by using weak logic, meaningless examples, and very outdated personal research.It's like listening to your dad's retired guidance counselor thumping his fist on your desk, spitting, "The Ivy League stinks."Let's face it:the Ivies are great and small liberal arts schools can be great, too.It's all a matter of finding the right match, but Pope won't help you do that.Buy any other guide and you'll be better off.

This book is a load of crap... and thats the nicest thing I can say about it.I couldn't even stand to finish it, though I got most of the way through it.

An Awesome AP Physics review book
I took the AP Physics B and AP Physics C Mechanics exams in 2006, and, to say the least, this book was a great help. I'm the kind of student who doesn't take notes in class and usually waits 'till the last minute to study for an exam. Because of this, this review book came in handy when I wanted to review everything for the AP exam. However, this book is probably best for just AP Physics B, since I got a little help from Fundamentals of Physics and Schaum's Engineering Mechanics: Statics and Dynamics or more clarification on more intense topics such as moment of inertia, centroids, moments of forces and moment of momentum/angular momentum, which weren't treated in detail in this book.
Everything you need to know about physics B but were afraid to ask
This book is awesome -I'll admit like the authors I prefer a more conceptual way of doing physics.Since in my opinion if your students don't really understand the ideas behind the math, they aren't physicists but mathematicians. So if you love Paul Hewitt and want to make physics more 'phun' than this book is for you. And if you ever get the chance to take AP physics training from Greg do so. His AP workshop was the best PD I have ever attended.

AP Physics B- NOT physics C
I am going to take the first portion of the AP test for physics C on mechanics in May. I am extremely worried that I will do badly because this review book does not include enough physics C material (i.e. advanced rotational motion, dynamics, etc). I just got the book "AP Physics C" by Barron's and it is much better suited for preparing a student to take the physics C exam.

Too many errors
I was using this book to help students prepare for the math section of the ACT.In my first day of preparation I found over a dozen errors in the math tests alone.There were problems with multiple correct answers listed, problems with no correct answers listed, and erroneous reasons given as explanations.This is the worst ACT prep book that I have seen ... The best review source, without competitors.
Constant updating of medical information, diverse and specialized skills of contributors, realistically concise book size, and practical itemization of review topics have made Kaplan Qbooks the best source for preparation to USMLE. It is difficult for competitors to catch up with the excellence of Kaplan. I noticed an example of such imitation by a professor of biochemistry, coauthored with another physician, where you could easily sense the circumstantiality of their questions and the poor itemization of their answers.In that imitation, the authors cram their answers in a long paragraph, single spaced and single column page, with poorly chosen font.

Solid strategy for the verbal section
I have been a GMAT tutor to ESL test takers for over 6 years and I have to say that the PR strategies are by far the most useful for students who don't speak English as their first language and need to focus their efforts on the score raising essentials. IMHO the main weakness of this book is its lack of isolated concept drills to drive home each strategy.

Use it as an outline to guide your studies...
I found the subject matter section to be too brief to be useful alone- I used the AP US and World History books to fill in the blanks.Unfortunately, I relied on the Cliffs test prep alone to review the economics and the test I took was really heavy in that area.It definately wasn't enough.
The author should have her Ph.D. revoked.
Awful.Embarrassing.The Subject Area Review is poorly written, contains contradictions, leaves out incredibly important details, and, in some places, is simply inaccurate.It is also egregiously inconsistent in the way it presents information.

The Perfect Review
I have been doing math continuously in college, but even then, I could not remember how to do the basics required of the GRE. This book was a perfect way to get reacquainted with the technical minutia, and even if I knew it, the book gave me the practice I needed to do the math quickly and efficiently. I would highly recommend this as a refresher, but it is too easy as a primary course of study for the quantitative section. The best part is all the problems are explained in detail, so one can simply follow along. THe entire book took me a week to do, and it was definitely worth purchasing along with another GRE book. Although the other books go through reviews as well, they just teach you the questions on the test. However, you won't get them if you can't manipulate numbers quickly enough, and thereby you won't have the ability to go through the more diffcult questions.

Thought all math texts were horrid...until this book.
I am working on studying and taking my GMAT exam and I always struggled with math.I found a lot of this was due to the fact that incompetent individuals taught and ONLY showed you the text book examples which only managed to show the EASIEST question.For example what do you do with polynomials with inverse exponents if you (like me) don't generally toil with text book math in my spare time Good study guide

BUY THIS BOOK!
Before I bought this book I thought my essay was pretty good until I bought this book.Then I knew that I could make my essay even better just by just following the essays in the book.I didn't even think I needed to get a guide book for my essay because I thought it was pretty good already without help from an essay book.But apparently this book worked really good because I did not get deferred from college!I got into my first choice just by using this book and I recommend it to anyone even to those who do not think they need a guide book for their essays because they think their essays are already pretty good like I thought mine was. uninventive and most unhelpful
There are a few gems here, but for the most part, these essays are the same well-written but dry, uninventive slop every other high school senior dribbles out: how the abroad student haf a Life Changing Experience! how an athlete Crossed the Finish Line! how when pet Fluffly croaked it was a Formative Experience! We're often asked which to choose. Of all the books we see, these are the two we most often recommend, but they do have different approaches. good, basic overview but don't use alone

So many errors!!
There are so many errors in this book.Its shameful.If you're a beginner trying to get an understanding of aircraft maneuvers based on gauges, dont bother with this one.It'll have you scratching your head!

Military Flight Aptitude Tests (CliffsTestPrep)
I would definitely recommend this book rather than the Officer Candidate Tests book.There's much more material covered and it gives a more basic overview of what is needed than the OCT book.The OCT book gives a more technical mechanics review that is not needed and doesn't even provide half of what's covered on the AFOQT.
AWEFULL editing
I can't believe the poor job of technical editing in this book.I am a pilot and all of the Flight errors in this book will confuse you if you don't already know how to fly ... Read more

DO NOT USE FOR NAVY MARINE CORPS ASTB!!!!!!!!!!
Several probelms with the book. First, changes were made to the Navy's DCO program prior to 2004 that were not included in this printing. Second the ASTB has changed its format, when I don't knowso that MAY be a problems with timing. HOWEVER OF THE SECTIONS OF THE ASTB THAT THE BOOK STATES ARE ON THE ASTB, ONLY TWO (2) SECTIONS WERE GIVEN IN THE BOOK TO PRACTICE ON, THE OTHERS WERE NOT INLCUDED.I am ticked of and felt I wasted my time waiting for this book and money on it. CHECK OUT ONLINE PREP SERVICES!!!!!!!!!!

Book is poorly written with a lot of errors
I am very disappointed with this book because there are a lot of errors in it.I found the newer edition, and was disappointed to see the same typos in it.This was particularly upsetting because the typos that I noticed are in the Math sections (although I am sure they are elsewhere too)It is unfortunate there are few resources to choose from for this topic.The explanations in the math section are also poorly written.I am honestly worried about the real exam because this book gives me very little guidance.
