Excellent Maps and Very Easy to use!
I highly recommend this atlas book. It has large maps, easy to use symbols, it loaded with colors and highly useful and interesting information. This atlas depicts all roads both big and small and tons of other useful information. It's nice to to look at different areas and discover new routes and attractions. A bit difficult to handle (size). Good enough to use in your car.

Florida Atlas and Gazetteer
Easy to read and use, invaluable when traveling in city or hiking in rural areas.Very detailed, provides names of area sites that are interesting to stop by, which are not included on road maps.

LACKS OF DETAILED STREET NAMES
I use this book occasionally, but it is lacks the detailed for use by itself.Where I do use it is with mapquest, that tends to not show the smaller lakes, but the Gazetteer does a much better job. ... Read more

Not recommended
A dictionary should demonstrate good lexicographic technique and have an up-to-date-vocabulary. The Vox dictionary does neither.
Vox New College Spanish-English Dictionary
I am very disappointed in this dictionary. It is large and has a lot of words, but it is frustrating for two reasons. First, when you look up a noun in English, it tells you the Spanish translation but does not tell you whether it's masculine or feminine. For instance, it tells you poster is "cartel," but you have to turn to the Spanish section to find out it's "el cartel." Second, the phrases and translations are awkward. Although this is a vulgar example, it's important: when you look up "pedo," it tells you the English translation is "wind from the anus." Who in English has ever said this? Look it up in Larousse, and as it should, it says "fart." I'm afraid to trust the expressions in the middle because I'm afraid I'll end up sounding ridiculous in Spanish the way a Spanish-speaker would sound ridiculous in English if he or she walked around saying "wind from the anus" and "go over like a lead balloon," which is the outdated expression they give as a translation for "caer mal." Overall, I'm going to stick with Larousse, which seems a lot more trustworthy to me.

Most complete eng-span dictionary I've seen.
I've used this dictionary now for a few years to learn new vocab and even some verb conjugations, and even with medical jargon (I'm a med student), the book rarely fails to deliver. ... Read more

A large but poorly-done dictionary
My Master's thesis was a review of Spanish-English dictionaries.Based on my research, I cannot recommend the Simon and Schuster's International.
Very useful
This reference supplies a broad range of entries and serves as an adequate single language dictionary as well as an excellent translational one.
Very Good, Not Excellent
The other reviews are right about the mistakes in this dictionary; in that respect it is actually somewhat dissapointing.However, I can't even imagine what it takes to write the perfect dictionary, and this one is very good.

MUST HAVE ATLAS - ITALY
My daughter married a gondolier from Venice.I've been waiting 10 years for a decent set of maps of Italy.THIS IS THE BEST.
Invaluable if you plan to drive any distance in Italy
You don't realize how spoiled we are in America with good maps until you try to buy maps for other countries.This is the best roadmap that I have found for Italy.We experienced a few problems, but nothing major.
Language should not be a problem

I am an intermediate level student of Spanish. This book keeps being mentioned and I would like to read it in Spanish.I can't find a copy where I can read a page or two to see if that might be possible. Does anyone familiar with this book have a recommendation?

over all, a time-worthyautobiographical historical peice
Although I've read this book before, this time, as an older and wiser reader I was able to recall a lot more information and specifics that had slipped my mind since the previous reading.As a non-native spanish speaker, it was easy to follow, in a dialect I could easily translate if necessary.Plus, this book is useful in the spanish classes that I teach in portraying a realistic view of guatemalan history.

This is a book that makes you think.
After reading this book, I realized how truly blessed I am.My problems are so minor compared to theirs.It also helps you to understand the suffering of the Indigenous persons both in Guatemala and in other countries throughout Latin America.I highly recommend this book to anyone who cares about the world around them. ... Virginia Atlas & Gazetteer - Tons of content
This Atlas, like all in the DeLorme series of Atlas & Gazetteer references, are wonderful map resources.A wealth of information is included.If anything, the level of detail, coupled with the topographic information, may seem a bit too much at first glace (if you are new to these guides).But if you're willing to spend a bit of time with the maps, you will find these guides to be very useful.
Virginia Atlas and Gazetteer, 4th ed
Like all Gazetteers by DeLorme, the Virginia version is excellent.The accuracy is commendable, although I do have several minor suggestions for the immediate area where I grew up.They are things that no one would know other than one who had lived there for a period of time.The Gazetteers are amazingly interesting and useful.

Opinion
I am well satisfied with the service, however, the Gazetteer was dated 2004.Perhaps it hasn't been reissued since 2004.

Great state atlas but not without its faults
I really like this Atlas and have found it very useful for mapping out bike routes.It's great for finding the back country roads.Unfortunately, it doesn't distinguish between paved and gravel roads and the topographic information is useless, since the elevation line separation is 60 feet.In Indiana, 60 foot elevation changes can include entire hills.I've looked at other maps and atlases, and unless you want to buy several small, regional, topographical maps from the USGS this is the best book out there for the money.

wonderful guide to manhattan
I had been to New York probably about 10 times before, but usually with friends of mine that lived there.I just came back from a solo weekend in Manhattan, and used this book as my only guide.It helped out so much.It gave me just the right amount of information fo what I wanted to do.The best part was that it fit right into the back pocket of my jeans with no problem.I found myself taking it out constantly - especially for the subway map.Definitely worth it!!

Well needed and used book. Get this if you are visiting NY
This book is amazing. If you actrully use it, you will find it indespensible. The good points.
Don't leave home without it
My brother-in-law, who lives on Manhattan's upper West side, pulled out his NFT when we met for lunch in the Financial District. Immediately, I leafed through the whole thing, looking for info that I needed for my 5-day stay in NYC. It had everything - subway & bus routes, restaurants, bike paths, a decent map of Central Park - in a small profile, easily fitting into a jacket or outside pocket. One of the things I disliked about travelling in NYC is having to pull out a map when trying to navigate. This, to me, simply announces "I'm a TOURIST," which in certain areas may be considered undesirable. But the small profile of the NFT makes it easy (and quick) to focus in on the part of town your are in, as well as the part of town where you want to go.

Wonderful Tool
This Thesaurus Sinonimos Antonimos E ideas afines it is a wonderful tool for writing, translating and word usage.Unlike regular dictionaries you just get the word in spanish or english or vice versa not much help.
Excelent!
In my opinion it is a complete book. It helps me a lot when I am writing texts. I can check the similar words and study at the same time. Very Good!

The 2004 edition STILL suffers inaccuracies
I attended college in Nevada and volunteered for the BLM in Nevada. I have traveled extensively throughout the state's rural areas since the 1980's; and several times over.
May mislead the unwary
The DeLorme Nevada Atlas & Gazetteer is useful if you're planning to travel off of Nevada's main highways. But there's a notable flaw that I hope DeLorme will correct in future printings. The atlas shows many spots, represented by a black diamond as a "City or Town" according to the key on the inside front cover, that are no such thing. Some of those places are deserted. Others may have a house or two but no services. You may run out of gas if you rely solely on this atlas. Great trip planning tool
I use the Delorme Gazetteers, including this one, for planning my fishing trips every year.They include comprehensive coverage of the state in question with sufficient detail to identify all the major topological features one will find, including streams and lakes.Also, they show all the roads.One criticism is that they don't contain road mileages between locations, unlike a highway atlas.But, a highway atlas will not show topographic coutour lines, or indicate locations where one may launch kayaks or rafts, or show locations reputed to have good fishing.I keep a Delorme Gazetteer for each state in which I expect to travel on any extended drive.They enable me to find campgrounds (in the indexes and shown on the maps), roads, topography, and all the essentials to plan a trip. ... What exactly does the San Fernando Valley look like from the air?
While visiting family in Encino, a portion of Los Angeles, I was curious to know what exactly the San Fernando Valley looked like in relation to the rest of L.A.A trip to the Encino Library left me only partially satisfied.But, by purchasing the Southern & Central California Atlas and Gazetteer, I finally understood the boundaries of the valley, the configuration of the mountains separating the two major portions of L.A., and the logic of travelling "West" to Encino from the rest of L.A. on the 101 without falling into the Pacific Ocean.This is a great resource for anyone wanting to know more about the geologic and geocultural configuration of the southern half of California.Should I find an equal curiosity about the northern half of the state, I'll be sure to buy the companion volume.And some day, I'll even donate my copy to the Encino Public Library (which is a great place, by the way; they just didn't have this terrific atlas).

Not a standard road guide
This is not the book you want to take with you if you are navigating the CA freeways or surface streets.I use it solely for backwoods trips into the Sequoias and the Kern Valley, and even then, it can be a little frustrating to a novice.I use AAA maps as a first resort, and this as my second (last) resort.
Okay, I guess
Well, I have never been too impressed with this atlas. I fell in love with the beautiful Benchmark & rarely look back. The dirt roads in Delorme look like hiking trails, the book splits California into 2 sections, paper is weak quality. It will do in a pinch, but I would rather have my 'REAL map book'. ... Read more
