The Brief Bedford Reader
This book is filled with lots of different stories that are very interesting.The story that I liked was the Champion of the World by Maya Angelou.In this story she writes about how African Americans were treated and how afraid they were.She telling us about a fight between Joe Louis an African American and a white boy.She says if the white man wins they'll have to go back to slavery.The store they were watching the fight at was full with people watching the fight, who didn't leave until the fight was over.It was a close fight.But at the end Joe Louis is the winner.The blacks were afraid to drive home after the fight so they spend the night in town.Who knows what could of happened if they did drive home after Joe Louis had defeated the white boy.

Great supplement to audio
This is a great resource for learning how to read well in Spanish and I think it will even aid in eventually being able to directly understand and think in Spanish. I especially like the oral and written practices in the back of the book for each story. This makes it a valuable program for developing reading comprehension and verbal skill that works great in collaboration with other programs for verbal fluency and listening skills. However, there is nothing really to check your answers with, so it's better if you know a native speaker who can check your work.

First Spanish Reader, But Use With Care
This is an excellent reader for use in a class where the instructor assigns readings from it and subsequently goes over them in class. However, students attempting to learn Spanish on their own are reminded that good knowledge of vocabulary and grammar is very difficult to acquire simply via comparing a translated version of a story with the original.

A big book with an awful lot of information.
Now in it's third edition published in 2006 and brought up to date. This is the standard reference guide to the NCIDQ examination, but more than that this is an excellent reference book into designing the interior of a structure be it a house or a commercial building.

This book has all you need to study for the NCIDQ exam.I'm also glad I found the 3rd edition on Amazon because all the other book places I looked were $100 plus for this book!

Cute.
Cute describes these books in the 10-mintues-a-day series.Pleasant, a little fun, a little insipid.But, really, not so bad just to get a taste of the language before you decide to move on to deeper study.
Very Useful
This book really came in handy on our trip.The menu cut out cards and the flash cards proved to be very valuable to us, especially since a friend gave us the bad advice that everyone spoke some English.Don't believe that, there were a number of people that did speak some amount of English but we both wished that we had taken more time before our trip to learn a littlem ore of the language.

CLAD Text
A well written text essential for acquiring CLAD credentialing. Myths are perpetuated which greatly reduces the credibility - there is only one "race", humans or Homo sapiens. Very few of us were born or came from the Caucasus Mountains of eastern Europe, yet 17th century artificial constructs of "race" and "Caucasian" are used. There is no discussion of how skin pigmentation is an ecotype adaptation, not a "race." Science, Scientific American, Discovery and other peer-reviewed journals have corrected "race" misconceptions repeatedly - yet the authors, with education backgrounds, appear to have not completed a review of current literature. "Theological" Indeed.
I was somewhat disappointed after buying this 10 volume set. Though Kittel gives his all - around views of certain words, that method turned out to be his biggest problem. You will get 3 to 20 POSSIBLE answers to every Greek word addressed in the New Testament by Kittel. Unlike Greek lexicons, Kittel's take on meanings of words leaves one scratching his head. To anyone making a defence of certain theological positions, stick with Old and New Testament lexicons instead of Kittel's theological slants.

Grateful to have a set
A couple gave me the full set for Christmas in 1974.They thought it would provide me insights for preaching that also benefit them as hearers of the sermons.I used it by means of the index volume for many years.Finally, I decided to read all nine text volumes cover-to-cover.It took me six years to finish, but I found thingsI did not find through the index and would never have known to seek.At times articles in Kittel can numb the mind with boredom.At other times they can cause it to soar with new insights based in an array of factual information.The reader will probably not agree with everything.Certainly, individual contributors of the articles do not always agree with one another.Still, I would not be without Kittel.My copy is drenched in ink from underlinings and notes I have made as I read it.I know it would be tempting to buy the one volume "baby Kittel" and skip the extra expense of the larger set, but there are key pieces of information that did not make it into the editors' view of what should be included in the one volume edition. Spend the money and get the real thing.

Helpful Work for Word Studies
Students of New Testament Greek should purchase this book.The one volume abridged addition is suited for quick word studies and for those looking for short background history on Greek phrases and words.

An Excellent Resource For Novel and Short Story Writers
I purchased the 2007 NOVEL AND SHORT STORY WRITER'S MARKET because I 2007 will be the year. Of course I've purchased the 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006 versions of the short story and novel edition or the overall WRITER'S MARKET for the same reason, because each year: 2003, 2004, 2005, or 2006 was supposed to be the year. I've since realized that getting a manuscript to work is not as easy as I had thought and 2003, 2004, and 2005 were unrealistic at best.

The Art of Fashion Draping
Good information in general, but there a lot of instructions that are unclear and/or EXTREMELY poorly edited (spelling/grammar mistakes etc). The book itself is not good quality and pages are already starting to fall out of my barely-month-old copy.

Excellent intro for novice sewers as a text, or experienced sewers wanting to learn draping skills. Covers tools/equipment, terms/elements of draping, the basic bodice/skirt/shift/sleeve, princess bodice/dress, skirtvariations, pants, sleeve and armhole variations, collars, cowl necks, yokevariations, knits, and a few intermediate fashion features like sculpturedpleats, bias, boned bustier, ruffles/flounces/gathering, and peplums. Tofollow the exercises, you must have a dress form (preferrably professional)to work with. But with numbered steps giving a very simplified process, andthe very clear and numerous b/w diagrams, you should be able to teachyourself the rudiments of draping unless you are also a beginner at sewing.As a veteran sewer and novice draper, I received this as a textbook for myfirst draping class and appreciated it as a reference. It didn't have everything
This book all though it had the bind in card from the publisher did not have the book key for quia.com which was what my professor uses.I bought online because I thought I was getting everything for less but it ended up being the same amount as if I had bought it in the school bookstore because I also had to purchase the quia key.So the moral of the story is that if you need quia just buy it at the bookstore and then you won't have to wait for your book. ... Terrific Resource

Usefulness of the Handbook
This handbook is a great asset for any college student that requires a great reference on all types of writing formats in an English course. Covers All The True Classics
Whether from the '30s, or more recent years, average and serious movie buffs alike will always find most anything they're looking for here. I purchase a copy about every other year, and have been extremely pleased with the huge volume of entries. I even underline every film I can remember ever having seen in my lifetime. Just a hobby. I find the larger edition somewhat easier to read, and makes for much better underlining.

What's the Point?
We buy Leonard's book every year, always the $20 edition for the larger type.The reviews were the same as always, informative, mostly accurate.Sometimes he's just plain wrong, but what critic isn't.
Very few will need the separate Classic Guide...
Leonard Maltin's Movie Guide is one of four essential movie guide's on the market, the others being Halliwell's Film Guide, The Time Out Movie Guide and The Virgin Film Guide (which is actually an updated edition of James Monaco's Movie Guide and is available from Amazon.co.uk).Each of these books have their own particular strengths, The Virgin and Time Out Guide's with longer but fewer reviews and Maltin's and Halliwell's books with very comprehensive but brief entries.
