Good but old
The elements of business writing give good point to look at.But the book is old and sometime give weird information.It's not an important book to have but, but still have some info.

Take care of your Volkswagen hybrid!!??
First of all, I have used both, but this manual is significantly more in depth than the Chilton's guide for these models, especially in the electrical and body schematics.It's definitely worth the extra bucks for the breadth of expert advice and will most likely keep good resale value long after the car is gone.
Service Manual for Volkswagens
I can honestly say that this is the manual I recommended to all of my Volkswagen owning friends.All of them.Surprisingly all of them bought it.Not only does this manual help me fix problems that are serious to moderate to just plain weird it helps me learn alot about my car as well.It helped me learn the things I need to get my car "Bella" the Volkswagen in a better shape.I recently had to change my water pump and I was going to take it to the mechanic which cost me alot of money, and instead of taking it to the mechanic I used the simple knowlege and the manual and I changed my water pump.Yes it has that too.

Timeless advice from a master
You can rarely go wrong if you follow this rule of thumb: If it's by Dale Carnegie, then it's going to be well worth reading. 'The Quick and Easy Way to Effective Speaking' is no exception!
Great public speaking concepts
Although Dales books are quite old the concepts he introduces remain tried and true. I have read another of dales books"How to win friends and influence people" And they are both fantastic. This book in particuliar i see as being of great value to anyone who has ever struggled with public speaking.

This is the same book used by our public school district.We are in one of the leading districts in the nation.The only negative I have is the price.I found it new at Walmart>Books>Textbooks for a lower price.Even they are higher than the publisher's price.Buy it here if you have confidence in your seller.I won't!

Fast and easy, a great way to learn!

Fabulous Book but Better with Behind the Wheel English
William Harvey's 'Ingles Para Latinos' is a classic which is loved by Spanish speakers for its ease of use, pronunciation guides and easy to learn practical basics presented in a non threatening and friendly manner.

Better applied for limit
This books stradegy should be used strictly for limit because the stradegies gordon uses will get you in trouble in no limit and save you chips in limit. If your looking to improve your game in no limit holdem, there is many books that will help you. Evan beginners should go a different route. Phil Gordon appears to be a nice human being and all and he writes good literature but thats all it is.

An Excellent Distillation.
Having generally gone through Phil Gordons' little book, I wholeheartedly recommend it as a necessary item for anyone's poker library.
Great..
Essential reading for the beginner.. interesting for the intermediate - and lots of fun for anyone else.

Fast shipment!
This book came to me in pretty good shape. I was impressed with how quickly it arrived to my house. The book was slightly used but it was at a good price and it served it's purpose.

St. Martins Guide to Reviews
This book is incredible, not only is it necessary for english 3a but I would never have been able to write this review. Not only that but it teaches you how to write good reviews, not bad ones. This book is great!

Much better than other texts
I have used this text in my College Writing class for roughly 4 years, and I continue to like the text overall.I disagree with some other views about the quality of the essays in the texts.The readings on argument are quite good, and they evoke discussion in my classes without prompting.I also like the fact that the text does not have a decidedly liberal bias. IE. They have one essay in favor of same sex marriage and one against it.The end of chapter prewriting activities are also good as are the peer review activities.

A real disappointment
When I saw that this dictionary was based on "American English", I was excited to get it.But save your money, or, better yet, use it to buy the Oxford Russian Dictionary.You can easily cope with British spelling (e.g. centre) and you'll find a much more useful dictionary.I find it remarkable that a modern (1994) dictionary purporting to be based on American English completely omits words such as "Internet", "download", "e-mail", to say nothing of all the acronyms associated with computers.Incidentally, you can find them all in the Oxford!

Very great
To put it one way, my russian professor, who is from Moldova, said that she would start using this disctionary. It is based off american english, which does make it more helpful. In the front pages gives most all of the rules of conjugating by the case, and the back appendix gives alot of proper nouns in russian. Its a really good dictionary to use, easy (heavy!), and very helpful.

Better than expected
This book is a lot bigger, and better than I had expected it to be. I thought it was a smaller, pocket-ish dictionary. But, it is a good sized, 1100 page book. There are plenty of definitions. This is a high quality book. Worth every dime.

A good writers and composition handbook
I taught this book for three years at a community college. It was in between using two Diana Hacker books Rules for Writers and the Bedford Handbook.
So much information so little time

Good book to strengthen writing skills for students
I actually purchased this book becuase it helped give me some inspiration for addtional exercises for my ESL students because I thought that some of the material in the text we were using was not covered effectively.I really like this book, and can be used for high level ESL or native English writing.Easy to follow, well-ordered, and overall a good writing skills text.

A very useful text
We use Susan Fawcett's book 'Evergreen' in writing courses at the community college where I work, as well as in our Tutoring Center (we also use her book 'Grassroots', which is a good companion at the more basic level).Whereas 'Grassroots' is for those who need help writing sentences and with more basic grammar concepts, the 'Evergreen' book is for those who have mastered that level of writing, and are ready to develop more fully structured themes and essays.

If you can only buy one MBA admissions book, make it this one...
If you could only buy one book on MBA admissions, make it this book.How to Get Into the Top MBA Programs is the most thorough and comprehensive guide to MBA admissions; Montauk answers nearly every possible question an MBA hopeful could have.The caveat is that because this book is slightly outdated, it is best paired with a more updated book like,"Your MBA Game Plan," by Omari Bouknight and Scott Shrum.Although Montauk has this new edition (I am referencing the 2nd edition, so be sure to get whatever the most recent edition is), I think Your MBA Game Plan puts forth some important, more up-to-date advice that is slightly different, because it comes from the perspective of recent admits to a top b-school.However, it is not nearly as comprehensive as Montauk's book.

A Must-Have - Read as early as possible in the process!
A friend recommended this book to me while I was preparing to apply to business school and I found it invaluable. As a strategy consultant at a "Big Five" from an Ivy undergraduate with the standard GMAT of 700 or above, I could have easily blended in with everyone else with my qualifications. This book helped me to figure out what would help me to stand out at each individual business school. Moreover, it helped me to identify my weaknesses in time to address some of them. For example, because I read this book two years before applying, I had time to become a leader in several community service organizations (instead of just participating) and to take some classes in areas I'd neglected in undergrad. Hodges' Harbrace Handbook
I've been using this handbook for about 25 years, and recently realized that my edition was the 3rd, published in the 1970s! So I ordered the latest edition (14th edition), and was so pleased with my purchase. This is a handbook that lives in our office, and gets used to death (we do graphic design, copywriting, editing). Any new employee on our staff is required to at least become familiar with the table of contents (in case of emergency!), and very soon they too are heading for Harbrace's to look up something. We love it.

It never ceases to amaze me how many times some ... grammarian tries to correct my writing only to review my Harbrace College Handbook to see they're wrong and I'm right. This is the definitive guide to American English grammar. Easy to read, plenty of examples, and more importantly it even covers those gray areas of usage letting the ready know this non-standard without simply cutting you off without explanation. I have purchased the latest edition ever since I purchased my first copy as text to Advanced Composition during my undergraduate days at the University of Maryland University College. Harbrace as served me very well ever since helping me obtain a high GPA in regards to my written assignments. I have a lot of other grammar books that I look at now and then, but Harbrace remains the standard.

learning a foreign language
I am still at the first stages, but learning a Italian is fun and the "Dummies" book is helpful!

It's hard to find that "perfect" Italian book to recommend to students, because I often run into these two situations: 1) the book is too in-depth and too focused on grammar; 2) the book is too superficial and more of a phrase-book for travelers, therefore not sufficient. SO, what I usually do is use a combination of books, this being one of them. It has some useful information on the culture, as well as practical expressions for the brave traveler. However, my recommendation is to take a basic course before traveling to Italy, because even knowing a few simple sentences can get you a long way. Also, in a group setting you'll be able to ask specific questions and to practice with others.I'm sure that if you check with your local community college, there are some short continuing education courses for foreign languages.
