I Can Speak Polish
This is the best audio language instruction I have ever used.The lessons were so clear and the review was so comprehensive, I am ready to go to the next level.I would highly recommend this instructional CD for anyone attempting to learn this somewhat difficult language.

Outstanding
An absolutely outstanding program for beginning Polish.Prof. Pimsleur has outdone himself.While it certainly will not make you a fluent speaker, completing the CD's before travelling to Poland allowed me to order in a restaurant, carry out transactions at my hotel, go sightseeing on my own, and interact with my business colleagues on a basic level.I already speak Spanish and Japanese and have a small understanding of Mandarin, French, and Croatian.I have discovered Polish to be the hardest language I have yet encountered.(Although similar to Croatian, Polish pronounciation is more difficult)I'm glad I started my studies with Pimsleur.Having dipped my feet into the language and having interacted with the Polish people, I've decided to continue my studies of this amazing language and culture.Thank you Pimsleur.5 stars +++++++!!!

Extremely Thorough

GREAT BOOK!
THIS IS A WONDERFUL BOOK FOR HELP ON CONJUGATION OF POLISH VERBS.EVRYTHING YOU COULD WANT TO KNOW IS IN THIS BOOK.THE SEMI-LARGE PRINT IS ALSO A VERY NICE FEATURE.IT IS EASY TO READ AND THERE IS NO CONFUSION BETWEEN LETTERS THAT CAN LOOK ALIKE.301 POLISH VERBS IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Thorough
Dating a Polish guy with a family who doesn't speak english very well is frustrating.Entire hours can be spent without hearing your own language except in short translations.I found this book to be very helpful in my language expanding efforts.One thing especially helped: the short Polish to English aproximations of vowel and letter grouping sounds in the beginning of the book.However, it is neccesary to know someone Polish or have a tape of native speakers in order to get a couple of these down accurately.We just don't have these sounds in English.I couldn't find this in many beginning Polish books and used it often as a reference when I first started.It's a great addition to a beginning speaker's library for building vocab.

A Good Phrase Book
This is definitely a good phrase book, the pronunciation guide words are a big help. Depending on how far you plan on going with your polish studies, makes a big deal when it comes to purchasing this product. If you are looking to pick up on a few important phrases or common words, this book will serve its purpose. If you looking to learn a bit more than basic communication. I still recommend this book in addition to some other Polish self-learning courses, preferable an audio or CD-ROM tutorial. Like Eurotalk or Rosetta Language Online. This book will help you commit to memory some of the things these programs teach you, while your at the office or out and about, and need a convenient reference to check your memory against. Overall this is a good product.

Nie ma drzew w tym lesie.
I bought this book after having looked far and wide to discover that there is not a single good Polish grammar book in the English language. This one is at least comprehensive and well organised.

What a great resource. Bielec's book provides the most succinct and clear grammar of Polish I've ever read. As an upper-intermediate/lower-advanced speaker, I've found this book invaluable in helping explain the ever overwelming nightmare of Polish declination. Great for Beginners and Intermediate

Anyone can build a pole building
I am not a "construction type person" (actually a pharmacist by profession) but with the help of this book I was able to build a 30'x 22' storage barn. The book was very clear on the basics of building a pole building and provided enough information to complete my project. I am 110% happy with the results of my barn (leaks just a little...which can easily be fixed...but I built it myself) and would recommend this book to anyone that has never built anything before.

Ask Homer at Home Depot
I would have returned this book but by the time I paid shipping it wasn't worth it. There is very little in this book of use, almost all of it is outdated, tools and equipment, etc. There are much better books on the market. This one might have been better if it wasn't so old. I have been an architect for 25 years and there just isn't anything in this that is useful. Very disappointing.

Great for beginners
I purchased this item with basically no experience learning Polish.The CDs do a great job of bringing you up to speed in the language. The first lesson teaches you the basics and really helps you to understand how to pronounce the words. The first ten minutes of each lesson is a review of the previous lesson, so it's very difficult to forget something that happened in the previous lesson.
A good beginner's course
Although very, very basic, slow and repetitive; this product has improved my use of Polish language. Having some knowledge of Polish, I should have started with the intermediate level.

Great book containing much more than justfood recipes
This is really an unusual book, the authors share their great knowledge not only about Polish food and dishes, especially the dishes which are unusual outside of Poland. They describe how Polish cuisine developed through history, they explain how to read a menu in the restaurant, how to shop for food.. and all of this information is in a very concise form - also with the dictionary of Polish "food" language, the dictionary of Polish dishes, recipes, beautiful photographs.

its a dictionary
not much to say really, its a polish/english dictionary...it works great.

Concise, many entries, good introduction to phonetics
For the small size book - this dictionary contains a good amount of words, with a pronunciation and some extra information about phonetics, kanguage origin, differences etc. Yes, some words are missing, especially from the modern world etc - but almost all the most common or popular words are there; the guide to the phonetics and the menu guides help also. I give this book a strong 4 stars!

Skeptical at first.
I gave the book to my dad and he did not know what to think.It started out slow but by the middle of the book he was laughing out loud.

yes, sounds familiar.....
This is a good slang-type of dictionary. The phrases or words are colorful because ordinary terms are used in a vulgar meaning.Hence, most of the entries are translated into the English 'F-word.' But are funny if you think about the literal meaning of the words. It makes American vulgar-slang look so boring and limited to a few words.I don't know why the other reviewer thought there should be religious references because the book seems to be thorough (I'm not sure that any cultures have religious obscenities for that matter).

Useful, accurate, and nasty
This book is full of deliciously vulgar phrases.I wouldn't recommend actually using them unless you want a black eye, but as far as I can tell, having spent a summer in Poland, they're mostly accurate and up to date.The author also provides many literal translations, which are usually the funniest phrases in the book.Read more

Very functional
This small 3.5 x 5.5" phrasebook is very concise and well organized, easy to hold in one hand, and the best I have seen on the market.There is a brief help section in the beginning on how to use the phrasebook.It is easy on the eyes using color, markers/dividers, varying fonts/colors and a 2-way dictionary to answer all your needs to a trip to Poland. The pages are of a thicker paper so it is easy to flip through without ripping pages or sticking pages.To me it answers every question and word I could think of in this almost 300 page book, with blank pages in the back of the book for notes. I highly recommend this book!

Even more content than title indicates!
This neat little book is much more than just a phrasebook and two-way dictionary!There is a great "chapter" on pronunciation and another great "chapter" on basic grammar.Those two sections are worth the price of the book.They effectively present what some entire books on learning Polish fail to do.
Good starting point
I bought this book a few days ago knowing zero Polish.I like this book as it does a great job with phonetical spelling, making it very easy to figure out how to pronounce the words.It's also a good pocket size that you can take with you anywhere if you have a few extra moments to practice on the bus or eating a burrito or something.My goal with this book is to get something that was useful and just allow me to just get an initial foothold in the language that I'll supplement with a more in-depth course. Teach Yourself Polish Complete Course
THEY NEVER ARRIVED....I HAVE TRIED TO TRACK THEM DOWN THROUGH THE USPS.
Terrible AND a RipOff
I bought this yesterday the local bookstore.The packaging on the outside reads "Includes Two 60-minute CDs".CD #1 contains 48 minutes of audio and CD #2 contains another 22 minutes.That comes out to 1 hour and 10 minutes...NOT the 2-hours proclaimed on the packaging!Very misleading.
NOT FOR BEGINNERS!!
As a language instructor of English and French(MA in TESOL) I found this book to be problematic. There are not enough listening and vocabulary activities on the c.d. As a total novice in Polish I need a lot more chances to hear the pronunciation. Each chapter gives you a very brief dialogue and doesn't even review the pronunciations of the lists of new phrases and words from the book. Then, in the chapter review they include new words and phrases not yet introduced!! Hello? How can you review something not yet introduced? My fiancee is Polish and I will be going to live and work there next year. If anyone can recommend a decent polish workbook with grammar for beginners I would really love to hear about it! ... Content seems fine, but binding disintegrated.
I have owned this dictionary for years, and it seems to meet my needs.My only complaint is that the binding on the hardcover edition disintegrated to an extent I've never seen before in any book.I'm very kind to my books, but the spine split on this one not long after buying it.And even where the spine isn't split, pages are falling out.
Great book for English speakers
I've went through many English Polish dictionaries and this is the most comprehensive one I've found to date. In most others I have trouble finding the Polish word to translate it back to English. Best Polish dictionary available on Amazon.com!
In my opinion, this is the best Polish dictionary available on Amazon.com.All the other dictionaries as far as I've seen have only 30,000 to 40,000 words.This dictionary has 50,000 words, plus includes lots of idiomatic phrases.In addition, many dictionaries have some flaws, such as not showing the genitives of the nouns, and not including every word found in the English-Polish section in the Polish-English section, and vice versa.This dictionary has neither of those problems.The same words are found in both sections, and the genitives and plurals for every noun are included.Even the first person singular conjugation of every verb in this dictionary is shown.Also nice is that this dictionary is very up-to-date.Computer terms, such as hard disk, hardware, software, computer virus, mouse, printer, etc. can be found in this dictionary.At the end of the dictionary, there's even a grammar section, which includes a guide to how to decline nouns and how to conjugate verbs.The only problem I can see with this dictionary is that the pronunciations of the Polish words aren't given (however, the pronunciation of every English word is given, plus there's a table of irregular English past tense forms.This leads me to believe that this dictionary was originally written for Polish speakers learning English).However, this shouldn't present a big problem.Polish spelling in highly phonetic after all, and to make up for the loss, a guide to pronouncing Polish is included.I would recommend this dictionary to anyone learning Polish. ...
