In desperate need of review!!
1999?It's 2006!!Come on, folks!!Excellent book that needs an update!!

A Trekkie Must Have
There were so many facts in this book. A book with every single charector, equiopment, episode, and important event from every single series is just what a trekkie needs. Each entry explains which episode and series it is from, and there a bunch of notes in italics explaining how something was done. I fully recomend this book. It has entries from "surprise pary" to the "dominian war." And if there was a flaw in time and a charector was duplicated they had a seperate entry on that charetor. How could a trekkie not have this book?

A Great Reference Book!
This is Encyclopedia is a must have for any fan. It has information that will take hours to read but the time will fly and you won't even realize how much time you've spent reading it! There are illustrations and TV pictures for some of the topics. From people, to places, to things, this book pretty much has it all.

It's wrong in places, but who cares it's so very cool
3 stars as an encyclopedia, 5 because it's the best story I've read in a long time.
Unfortunately....
I wished I could write a good review for this book.However, I can't.I read it.From a literary standpoint, the book is an obvious polemic.Ever evil under the sun can be traced to men, Christianity, and society run by men, (in about that order).
Great Book
I have had this book for about 6-7 years now and always come back to it every few weeks or months to look something up. Do I take Absolutley every statement or folky etymology she states as Fact? No I don't, nor should anyone who reads Any book.

Not Impressed
While there were few fleeting moments of humor, overall it felt like the author was just rambling her way through the "alphabet."

Read this if you want to know why you should not purchase this book.
Ok, I bought this book based on the recommendations I had skimmed over on Amazon. I can barely turn the pages any longer asthe book is beginning tofeel like an unbearable reading assignment. I can understand that Amy Krouse Rosenthal would like to believe that after she dies someone will remember her. (The small idiosyncrasies that make a life, etc.) That's what your children are for. What could have been a wonderful and innovative idea turned into a stale, mind numbing read. All of the small clever thoughts you have are not original and perhaps should stay right where they began.. in your notepad.

I saw this book on a stand in Barnes and Noble, and picked it up, not really knowing what it was about, who the author was or anything. The first page that I opened, I was already laughing hysterically in the middle of the store!

Best Record Book Ever
The guinness book of world records is a book that keeps you and me informed of the amaising yet fairly random things that men and women arround the world have achieved the best of. It kept me interrested for months and i always love to go back to them to see the different records. I truly believe that this is the best record book ever.

God (oh the irony) can't you xtians just get over yourselves?
For the last time, America was not founded as a christian nation, the Founders were uniformly hostile either to the christian religion or to the traditional "Trinitarian" churches.
This awesome book should be in every home!
In a society where God is constantly under attack, this book helps put things in perspective.It's a must for any Christian.There are tons of wonderful quotes kids won't hear in the public schools.It helps fill in a portion of history that is "taboo," the part involving God.Our country's heretage is rich in divine intervention.We love this book so much, that we have started a tradition of giving it as a gift to every graduate from which we receive an announcement.I particularly like George Washington Carver's quotes for high school graduates.

Required reading in our schools, and government elected officials!
I bought this book for myself several years ago, and use it for a source for research, and for history. My pastor wrote and piece in our church bulletin, which indicated General/President Washington was not a Christian. I set him straight from quotes in this book, and bought it for him. He had wanted to borrow mine, and once he received his own copy, he understood why I wouldn't loan it out......he would never get it back! excellent resource
This book is an essential resource for the serious Bible student as well as for the casual reader. I purchased this book as well as the Commentary on the Bible by the same author, after countless times of looking up words found in the Bible, but not in the dictionary! This book is comprehensive and clear as to the meaning of words and phrases, descriptions of people, places, events, including explanations of concepts and words NOT found in the Bible, such as "Trinity." It also contains photographs, maps, practices and customs, and so much more. This book is a must-have and should be part of eveyone's Bible library.

A 'must' for any actively involved in producing different scrapbooks
Plenty of books have hit the market covering all aspects of scrapbooking, the new popular hobby of building a family memory book - but Susan Pickering Rothamel's Encyclopedia Of Scrapbooking Tools & Techniques is about the only reference you really need if you're an avid scrapbook maker. All tools and techniques are described here, from acid migration and its problems to handling bubbling and edging problems with decoupage, understanding how journaling works, and handling photos and paper. A 'must' for any actively involved in producing different scrapbooks.

Great for private lessons
I use the books in my private lesson practice.Kids love the music, get excited,and I use an IPod for playback in the lessons.The five books I ordered in February are gone and ready to buy the next set.Only advice to remember is music is in MP3 fomat.Make sure your CD at house can play MP3s; your next step might be a MP3 player, i.e the Ipod I use.For other drum instructors, remember to jump around in book; books starts in Rock style.Students need to be exposed to other styles of music.Go for it; enjoy,

Of course dictionaries aren't usually meant to be read through like novels. Even though I haven't done that with this book, I would if I had the time. Informative... But intellectually useless.
This book is actually a direct translation of a major comparative study by the late shi`i scholar Muhammad Jowwad Maghniyyah.The original work as well as the translation simply list religious rules regarding certain cases and highlights the differences between the Sunni and shi`i scholars. Author fills a big gap in this field of comperative study of Islamic sects and suprizingly it even includes the shia't belief. As the name suggests it is all about how each school of thought consideres the Islamic law, what is their opinion on certain issues. Of course issues that are not disputed is not covered but only those that are different is covered. Author also provides some explanations behind the opinions. It is very good book for person doing comperative study and for more details you can go back to sources, Shafii's book, Muwatta or others.It is a good book for Imam's in this country where they have to answer to questions coming from variety of muslim groups contrary to in the home country it is more uniform, people are generally in same sect. ... Maybe consider this book
I used this book along with other books to study for the ANCC FNP certification exam (and passed). Many of the questions were VERY specific and would never be tested on a certification exam. I also found that there were some questions that seemed to be related to bedside nursing or inpatient care. The testing strategies at the beginning are helpful. However, taking these exams did get me frustrated because I consistenly scored below 78% on each exam. I found that there was very useful information in the question rationales. Practicing tons of questions was helpful in studying for the exam. I would recommend this book, but beware of the typos and know that you probably won't get great scores on the practice tests.

Terrible Book
This book is truly terrible and an insult the nursing profession.I plead with the authors to remove the book off the shelves or IMPROVE IT NOW! The answers are wrong and outdated , one answer told me to put a woman on HRT for hypertenstion and hyperlidpidemia, this information is atleast 5 years old.And in the tests in the back of the book, they don't give rationale for the answers... they just refer you back to the chapter... WHO HAS TIME TO REREAD THE CHAPTER.The questions are also very poor and very specific.IT will make you doubt yourself, even though you know what your talking about.

Find a different review book
I purchased this book at my Fitzgerald review course. After getting it home and starting to use it, I quickly became frustrated. I thought that the questions were poorly worded and harder than the actual test questions. Several of the questions were coded wrong and there were too many questions that were "all of the above" or "none of the above." These are complaints that I have seen in other reviews of this book.

An 8-year old's dream
My son loved this book. It's full of enough obscure information to make him feel like an expert in the field of Bionicles. Of course, it's full of so much information that he's now an insufferable font of Bionicle facts!

I keep it where I can read it best!
Okay -- I'll admit that I have it in the bathroom, but only because I want to read every item and it is a good place for quick reading.
Invaluable research tool...
This is an essential lexicon for the numerous symbols and cultural icons that have appeared or have their origins mainly in the western tradition. After reading the many definitions, it dawned on me that many symbols are simply misunderstood by popular culture and used in the wrong context. This text also takes the meaning of certain symbols and traces their root derivations, showing that meaning changes as the culture changes; and that different cultures use the same icon or symbol for entirely different purposes. Because our world is rife with signifiers, it would be a daunting task indeed to provide a comprehensive collection. Though what Biedermann has done is capture those symbols and icons that he believes have been the most significant throughout western civilization. A wonderful, comprehensive resource!
I refer to the Dictionary of Symbolism so often that I always keep it close at hand.It is a wonderful resource for anyone interested in mythology, Jungian dream analysis, biblical symbolism, cross-cultural meanings and myths, the history of symbols, etc.This is no simple listing of symbolic meanings -- it is a substantial book with extensive information on each entry, very often with illustrations.Read more

Loaded with useful and educational information
This book is a must for World War II aficionados and scholars alike. It certainly is worthy of the title "encyclopedia," as it contains just about every known figure on both sides of the Holocaust. I highly recommend getting the book, no matter your expertise level. It's a great teaching tool for beginners who want to learn the ABCs of what happend and why, and it's a great reference book for scholars who want to learn intimate, small and minute details about one of the worst tragedies mankind has ever known. Well worth the money.

Not sure how helpful this is but its packed full o' info.
Its about time a Holocaust Encyclopedia appeared on the shelves.This wonderful volume includes refferences to everything you could ever possibly want to know about the holocaust.This 800 page volume contains many useful maps and pictures which will be helpful.Coverage is well done.Their is some question as to the accuracy of the entry detailing the rvolt at Auschwitz as various sources("Anatomy of a death Camp') have put the number of Germans killed at 4 or 5 while 'Doctors Eyewitness account' put the numbers at as many as 100.Clearly something is missing.THe SS kept such extensive records of the numbers of Jews they killed one would think that someone could unearth the number of SS killed/hospitalized after the crematorium revolt. Comprehensive & Authoritative Study On Genocide.
This is an invaluable source of reference for those interested in studying the Holocaust. It is superbly presented and extremely well written, consisting of over 800 pages & containing some 276 photographs (some previously unpublished) together with19 maps plus a full index and reference section.Read more
