3-0 out of 5 stars science questions too easy
took my DAT this past week and this did not improve my score. The General Science questions in the tests were much easier than the actual DAT. Perhaps the questions were old.Reading Comp was good

4-0 out of 5 stars All these reviews are pretty accurate!
I read other reviews and decided to purchase this item. I must say that all of the reviews were pretty accurate. It was a wonderful tool, it had some problems (ex: wrong answer to a couple of questions), but was pretty true to the actual form of the DAT. Word up.

4-0 out of 5 stars TopScore DAT software
If you're going to prepare for the DAT, purchasing this software is still a good idea. However, please be aware of certain weaknesses of this software, as there are some: 1) After taking the real DAT, I realized the science sections of this software were more difficult, partly due to the highly specific nature of the questions. 2) I noted that there were an annoying number of incorrect answers on the PAT sections of this test. A portion of the sample questions were clearly variations of those on the official test. Yet, some of these figures were misdrawn, (esp on the top-front-end sections) such that diagrams contradicted each other. Therefore, we're forced to guess between two wrong answers, trying to predict which was the intended correct answer. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Necessary Tool for CPA Candidates

4-0 out of 5 stars Good study guide
I enjoyed this study guide. No it does not spoon feed you, but it is written by the people who created the test so it tells you what you need to study. It also has a practice test section and explains the correct answers.

2-0 out of 5 stars Asks more questions than it answers
If I had months to study this topical guide would be very helpful. If I am down to the wire to study I actually want to be spoon fed the answers. The whole point was not to get a workbook but rather to get refreshed on what I needed to know. I also bought wordy book by Barrons that was hard to navigate. The only true guide I found was by XAMonline.com.ETS has no vested interest in seeing that we pass because if the test is not passed (by you, not me, hee, hee) who stands to benefit. Do not get me wrong for the price if you have the time it is an extra product that will improve your professionalism. I just wanted something more immediate for my test. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Weak study guide - Could Be Better
I don't know what all the hype is about, especially from the poster above. The book is an abbreviated, outline version of what you need to know.
4-0 out of 5 stars Basic Overview, well organized
I bought this book, along with the REA book with the CD and the Boosalis How to Beat the CSET books.I read this book first and I feel like it was very good in covering many subjects, and was especially helpful as the first book I read to prepare for the CSET because it is organized in such a concise, easy outline manner. The Human Development chapter was enough to pass the test. The Art section lacked a good explanation on reading music and that was unfortunately what my short answer question was on.The math section was good, but I am strong in math so I didn't study math at all.The science section was good, I was surprised how easy the science section of the CSET test was.The reading acquisition section was thorough and effective.I bought the Boosalis book because it was supposedly the strongest one on Language Arts, but I found it too long winded.I liked the Cliffs version better. The History section was the only section that I feel was way too brief.I would not have passed the CSET History section if I had only read this book, you must do outside reading if you are not strong on Social Studies/History.I would strongly suggest buying this book along with doing other studying.I passed all 3 sections of the CSET in one day by studying this book and the History section of the Boosalis book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Section III
After stuying for the third section of the CSET using this book, I was able to pass it with flying colors on my first try. This testprep was very usefull to me but I would recommend "What Your Fourth, fifth and sixth Grader Needs to Know" series for the other 2 sections of the CSET. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Low Quality => Low Value
Seeing the merchandise in person is not as important if you're buying a book, but it really may change your opinion on whether or not it's worth the purchase if the merchandise is flashcards.
5-0 out of 5 stars Worth the money!
I was put off buying these cards by some of the negative reviews, but went ahead when I saw a sample card in a store. In a Japanese bookshop, they cost about 8500 yen, or $85 in US dollars. They are well worth it, as they are a good size, contain exactly the right amount of information (not too little, not too much) and are cross-referenced to other courses. You can put 100 in your pocket and review them on the train. One wonderful experience I had was in a jam-packed Narita express one night, where all of the Japanese people around me were getting into it, cheering or groaning each time I turned over a card. We had a good-sized group of 'contestants' after half an hour or so! After all, some of Heisig's kanji are not so easy - even for native speakers. I am proud to say that I now know a few kanji that some of my Japanese co-workers don't...and it drives them up the wall. The cards have the Chinese and Japanese readings and the 'real' meanings, which are, 95% of the time, the Heisig one anyway. They also have example compounds - and it is a joy to realize that you can figure these out after a while with a bit of intuition!
2-0 out of 5 stars kanji cards
I will admit the cards are helpful, but for the price, not enough. I expected better quality and better kanji information. Yeah, buying them savse time, but making them saves money and I've found that when I write the cards myself, I learn the information better. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great tool
I am an AVID teacher and am preparing my students for the SAT.After I started using this book my students now think that learning Vocab is fun! When have you ever heard a high school student say that vocab is fun?I highly recommend this book!

5-0 out of 5 stars Practically Painless Learning
I found this slightly unorthodox way of learning vocabulary words to be entertaining and practically painless. My children (8th and 5th graders)and their Gifted and Talented Program teachers have been enthusiastic about using the book. I especially appreciate the author's humorous treatment of this compilation of words likely to be tested, and the fact that he has updated the book periodically to keep pace with changes in the SAT. I would recommend it for any student-in school or not- interested in expanding his or her vocabulary.

3-0 out of 5 stars NOT GRE Math Subject test
I made the mistake of thinking that "GRE Math" meant "GRE Math Subject test" which it DOESN'T. This book is for the math section of the general GRE and NOT for the GRE math subject test.

5-0 out of 5 stars This workbook rocks!
With no review and almost 20 years since I last looked at algebra and geometry I got 360 on the GRE math section. With 4 weeks of review using this book I got 570!Imagine what you could do with longer!I highly recommend this workbook. Its easy to follow, the methods are very clear and detailed. It teaches you a few tricks of the trade that are simple and effective.Well worth the money.

4-0 out of 5 stars Provides all the information required for an 800 score

1-0 out of 5 stars Deceiving
I bought the whole set based on some posts I saw at a GMAT forum along with the Princeton Review GMAT books, and the Official Guides.
1-0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY
The most annoying of all in this book are the examples cited. This book claims to be edited, tested by people who scored 99 percentile on GMAT and still there is no originality! All the examples are cited off from the GMAT verbal workout or from GMAT review 11th edition. After each concept an exmaple is cited which we cannot attmpt as there are no choices available. The book goes on and on as to how to correct the sentences which is not the case in GMAT. We are not taking the test to correct it, we taking the test to pick the best of the options and to score it. In short, though this book is strong in concepts, I would not spend $16, rather would prefer to buy Kaplan Test book or GMAT Verbal workout, etc. Anyways you will endup buying books from GMAC for sure...

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent!!!
This book is great! It concisely covers the main types of sentence completion questions and completely demystifies this tricky, often confusing portion of the GMAT. The book is easy to understand and provides lots of examples and practice questions. One caveat: a lot of the practice questions refer to the 11th edition of the Official Guide and the Verbal Official Guide. However, this book can definitely stand on its own. Another major plus: when you purchase any of the GMAT prep books and register the book on the GMAT Prep website, you get e-mails with useful articles and suggestions for studying. These articles were really helpful. In particular, an article on pacing was a lifesaver. I highly recommend this book. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome!!!!
I didn't read the book but knowing the person, I know that the book should be great.

5-0 out of 5 stars Organic Chemistry is doable!
This is an EXCELLENT book that I think should be a MUST for anyone considering taking Organic Chemistry. It is written by a fellow student, who knows what people struggle with. He even gives some background review on concepts from Inorganic Chemistry which is very helpful. Organic Chemistry is a demanding, fast faced, often confusing and frustrating subject, even for the most intelligent. The author states that clearly, that it is a hard topic, but it is also one that the average person can succeed in if they put in the time and effort. I found this book to be inspirational, and gives you a clear idea of what you will be heading into when you walk into Organic chemistry the first day, and it is alright to be nervous about it, as almost everyone is. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Very Complete and More Sample Questions OnLine
This book builds on the authors success in developing his predecessor book on passing the PMP test on your first try. This book applies the same techniques to the CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) test.
5-0 out of 5 stars First Try
I highly recommend studying this book if you are serious about being CAPM certified. I passed on my first try and would recommend after each chapter reading the associated chapter in the PMBOK. The two week insight trial that is included in the purchase of the new book is amazing. It allows you to test your knowledge in the various knowledge areas and take an extra simulated exam, the book also has one. I spent a 4 week period reading the book before I took the exam and it was well worth it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent study material
The CAPM Exam - How to Pass on Your First Try - is the best book out there for exam preparation. The book takes the PMBOK material and translates into pieces that are easier to digest for exam preparation.I especially like the free trial to INSITE with the purchase of the book.I was able to take online practice tests before the actual test.I definitely recommend for people looking to pass on the first time around - as I did. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars How is this Helpful?
This is one of the worst college resources out of the hundreds already in print. The book does little more than list the general statistics of the thousands of colleges in the United States, making it the size of a phone book. The text offers little insight into the character of the school and leaves a college bound student even more confused than before. All this information and more can be found at the collegeboard website(for free), where it is much easier to navigate. This resource may be helpful for a counselor, but is useless for an individual student. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars pre-req: mid-level stats experience
I had taken a class in HLM before, and I bought this book to refresh myself on the details. It takes a good deal of attention to detail and concentration to really get the full measure from this book, although it's all in there.Despite the authors' best efforts, there is a good bit of stats jargon in the book, so a reader who is not familiar might have some difficulty. If you're at a point where learning HLM is a logical next step, you'll be fine and I recommend this book. However, if your over-eager faculty advisor told you to learn HLM, despite your minimal experience in stats, you're better off enrolling in a class or workshop.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good but sometimes skipping ahead too fast
This book gives a detailed description of the use of an advanced method to deal with nested data sets.
4-0 out of 5 stars Useful, but need solid background in stats
This book describes important advances in statistical analysis of social science data, circa 1992. Much of this data has a natural hierarchical grouping. But traditional statistical methods proved inadequate at coping. The biggest drawback was the failure of the assumption of independence. If at the lowest level, Items I1,...,In are grouped into sets J1,...,Jm, where mRead more

1-0 out of 5 stars So Frustrated!
I decided to enter a teaching program in July and learned that I would need to take PRAXIS on August 5th. I ordered this book from Amazon on July 1. Shipment kept getting delayed until the point that my order was listed as not shipping until after I took the test! I cancelled the order and tried to order directly from ETS, makers of the PRAXIS exam. After two weeks of waiting on them, I gave up. All along, I had checked out literature anthologies and literary handbooks from the library. I am so disappointed in Amazon, although the blame might lie with ETS for a lack of production. I thought this book would at least help me feel more secure, but it's not to be. Again, my recommendation is to browse literary terms, grammar books and anthologies of literature ... and know that even ordering a month in advance of the test might not be enough time to allow you to receive the study materials. Good luck!

2-0 out of 5 stars SAVE YOUR MONEY!
I just took this test on Saturday, and let me tell you I was extremely let down. I thought buying this book would be the greatest thing since sliced bread and it would be so helpful in my studying, etc. Well, it fails to let you know that one third of the actual Praxis II exam has to do with diagramming sentences and syntax. I know how to write a simple sentence, but I don't remember what a gerund is and where to put the adverb in a sentence when I am under pressure. The practice test in the book focuses mostly on what you have read and how well you can recognize writing styles. I was completely unprepared for the grammar section and it left me feeling like I failed. If you're really worried about the reading list I suggest picking up the Praxis book for the composition part of the test, which was much more helpful than this waste of $20.

5-0 out of 5 stars Next Best Thing to Buying the Answers

5-0 out of 5 stars Examkrackers Chemistry
This is a very good book. Amazon shipped it right away, in excellent condition. This book will help you get ready for the MCATs by acting as your very own tutor. I recommend getting all of the Examkracker series.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for high yield review
To get into Med school after 15yrs in business I took my Organic Chem series over again, studied Exam Kracker's 101 series until I knew the books cold, listened to EK's Audio Osmosis about 10 times while communiting then took several full length practice tests.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent.Do be fooled by other texts, this rocks!!!
First of all, if you consider yourself a 'pre-med' and serious about the MCAT, then as such you probably would've done some research about your products you are using... judging from the other reviews, they have not.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't bother
This book is absolutely HORRIBLE. Everything was just WAY too easy. The biology and chemistry portions consist of one-liners that barely scratch the surface of a topic. The spatial aptitude review problems are way too easy to even compare to anything you would see on the actual DAT. Plus, there aren't alot of them to practice on. I have never felt more "scammed" in the purchase of a book. I can't believe that such a well respected company like Kaplan would dare publish a test aid that was so watered-down. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Waited for 8 weeks to receive this product.
This product sucked because I definitely ordered it about 3-4 weeks prior to the mcat.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must for MCAT study on the go
The person who made the previous post obviously didn't look very hard at the book or try to study with it, or they would have realized that the definitions upside-down beneath the words are NOT the definition to THAT word. This is a long, thin book of flashcards with a vocab word on the Front of the page and the definition on the Back of the same page. The book does go upside down, but this is because there are more words/defs printed upside-down, therefore using the entire page (since the single word/definitions only take up half a page). So the book read right-side up is Chem, and the book held upside down and read normally is half Chem and half Physics.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST RESOURCE
I received nearly perfect scores in all areas of the exam. The testing center Proctor noted that she had never seen such high exam scores!GRE For Dummies prepatory exams were nearly IDENTICAL to the ACTUAL exam.I cannot say enough about this book!

4-0 out of 5 stars Dummies being the key word
This book was helpful in explaining the areas where I needed to improve my skills to take the GRE.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good
I loved the author's jokes and formats of this book. I was disappointed in the lack of math problems to solve and that there wasn't any review problems after each math section, as there is with the verbal section. All in all, I'd recommend this book along with purchasing another GRE review book. ... Read more
