A prefect choise for CCNA exam preparation
CCNA INTRO Exam Certification Guide and CCNA ICND Exam Certification Guide by Wendell Odom are prefect choise for CCNA exam preparation. Both books are easy to read for non-native English speakers (like me), all concepts are well explained and illustrated with good examples. Books also covers all exam topics, I used only those books for exam preparation and I answered all questions except one.

Recurring problem
I purchased this book set and passed the INTRO exam easily but have failed the ICND exam twice. I found the exam to be much more difficult than the practice questions. Delivery time
It took a long time from Amazon to deliver the item to me and I did not feel good about since my exam was getting closer to the date of delivering the book.
Good Physics Practice
This book has a pro and a con associated with it. The pro is that it is a plethra of free standing questions and will definitely prepare you for that aspect of the MCAT without a doubt. The con is actually only a semi con...there are no passages in this book which means you won't get practice in scanning for important facts. This isn't the end of the world, though, because the MCAT physical sciences section is highly conceptual, and this book drills the concepts like there's no tomorrow. For practice with passages, you can go to the AAMC site and download a few of their practice tests.

Great Physics Practice
I really found this book very, very helpful.I thought it covered every topic on the MCAT.Some of the questions were a little easier than McAT, and some seemed a little more difficult than MCAT, but they all seemed like McAT questions to me.You can't beat the online help offered with this book.THe author himself answers your science questions.Two enthusiastic thumbs up from me. ... The Joy of Educational Remediation
This is one of the books I wished someone would write.My knowledge of science past and present was wanting and yet there wasn't a single book written for (and by) someone in the same boat.Bill Bryson has written such a book and brillantly over-achieved in the process.In the spirit of full disclosure, I like nearly everything Mr. Bryson has written.He can be pedantic and peevish when describing the less than admirable characters and circumstances he encounters but he's always very funny.Having said that, this physically ponderous tome made me wonder whether he could sustain his humor while at the same time educating the reader over all those hundreds of pages.Miraculously, his choice of anecdotes and pacing is spot on.It is extremely readable and there are wonderful factoids and "ah ha" moments on nearly every page.Life is short and this book is not but it's absolutely worth the trade-off.

Fun and engaging history of modern science
Well written and fun to read.Bill Brysons style really creates a nice true story, complete with the quirks and oddities of the charecters depicted.Highly recomended if you are interested in the history of science, or if you just enjoy a fun and educational read.

A Good Read for the Basics
This is a good book.And, like all Bill Bryson's work, it is wonderfully written with such a sense of humor! Bryson is very good at finding facts as well as funny historical anecdotes and idiosyncrasies.

I used this book as my primary source...i read it twice before the exam. the cases are amazingly close to what you will get in the exam...trust me... you do not need a course, all you need is the first aid!!!!!!!!!!!!! any other sources can be used as a way of reviewing what you have already learned from that book. trust me you know the content of this book, you are one step ahead of the game.
All you need to pass CS!
This book does a great job of describing the exam format, rules and content. You can easily pass the exam using this book alone. In fact, a few days with this little gem before CS is what most of my friends and I have done for preparation. The consensus is that we ALL felt very comfortable with the simulated patient format based on what we learned in First Aid alone. Of all the cases I had on the exam, only ONE was not specifically covered in First Aid for CS. Don't waste time with other books/resources. I was somewhat disappointed with First Aid for CK, but for CS...it's right on the money!

#1 book for Step 2 CS
This book was excellent for the exam. It told me exactly what to expect and what I needed for the exam day. The cases in the back of the book where almost verbatim of what I saw on the exam. More appropriate for intermediate to advance readers
For someone who is new to probability theories and statistics, you might consider something else more basic and introductory.I've had classes in probability and number theories in college.This book stumped me.It could be retitled: Cartoons for Statisticians.Definitely not a book for beginners as it may have been intended.

Excellent Intro to Stats
Stats isn't an easy thing to learn, but the Cartoon Guide to Stats is the easiest way to learn the basics.In particular it makes hypothesis testing clear.Hypothesis testing is often one of the more difficult areas for new stats students to understand.
Fun & worthwhile
This book is, in fact, full of cartoons but, even so, is actually a useful statistics book.I am a chemist who has long forgotten her math and this book was suggested to me by a co-worker who was given the book (earlier edition) by her sister (a medical person).So, this book has a long history of being helpful to those of us in technical fields who are not math experts but who need occasional help with stats. ... Good stuff for beginner of GRE general test!!!
This book is well organized. Anyway, I thought DVD material is practice test on it, yet there was just MOVIE chlip about GRE. Perhaps this material is waste of money, but in my case, after watching it, I was satisfied with it because I did not know all about GRE test.

Excellent review study guide
I found this book to be very helpful as a prep for the Praxis exam. The practice exam questions point you directly to those topics covered on the test, so you won't waste time studying topics that won't be on the test. Also, the practice test is a little more difficult than the actual exam, so if you master these 75 questions,you will do well on the test. Now, if they only had a book for the chemistry essay test!!!

This is a 'study guide' not a review book!
I purchased this thinking that I could use it to review the sciences.THIS IS NOT A BOOK FOR REVIEWING THE SCIENCES!All it gives are topics that should be studied and practice tests for the various areas.I was disappointed.So instead I checked out a book called 'Chemistry the Easy Way' from the library and used it to review the chemistry material.That book was much better for reviewing the material and it had 5 practice tests that were a little more difficult than the Praxis.They also have the same books in the different science areas.

Somewhat Useful...
I am a master's student just beginning graduate studies in the humanities.I picked up this book during my first semester and devoured it over the course of a few days (my undergraduate degree is in mathematics, so I figured I was a little behind the curve in my present area).It's the kind of book I think I will return to occasionally throughout my studies.There's some useful stuff here, but the main point of the book is "make sure you make a good argument!"That's really what it boils down to.As someone with a solid background in logic, however, I found much of the book to be reducible to basic principles of common sense.There's a section on "warrants" for example that sounds very sophisticated and difficult, but is really just an exercise in constructing a logical argument by using universally accepted propositions.Now this is fine, but I think the material could be presented in a much simpler manner.Instead of using large tables and graphics with arrows and textboxes and all that jazz, the authors could have taken a more minimalist route and avoided a lot of confusion. I don't know... maybe I would have just preferred a different format.Some of the things in the book really bug me.For example, chapter seven introduces the ideas of claim, warrants, reason, and evidence.To put it simply, you base claims on reasons.Evidence is the cold hard reality upon which the reasoning process rests.Warrants are like propositions which connect reasons to claims in the way antecedents are connected to consequents.If your warrant is something like A=>B then your reasons will need to coincide with A and your claims with B (if your warrant is going to successfully connect reasons to claims).If your claim is more specific than B then your warrant isn't strong enough (and your claim is unjustifiably strong).If your reason is broader than A then your claim won't necessarily follow because your not sticking to the limits of the proposition.This kind of stuff is very basic logical reasoning which everyone is familiar with.So why do the authors say "as we said, this is not easy stuff."Maybe it's not easy because the presentation is muddled.It could have been simplified by taking a more symbolic route (perhaps in addition to, or as a a preliminary, what is already here).

The Craft of Research
Excellent way to learn the steps required to write an quality research paper.Learning the proper way to do reseach will remove stress and make writing fun.I am a 1 year MBA student at WSU but I wish I learned these techniques in high school.The next edition should have examples and resources for business students.

Used book to Pass Army Flight Test
I was surprised that this book was "on it" when it came to the test questions that they ask you. I can't speak how well it is when it comes to the other branch tests, but it helped me prepare for the test giving me a passing score.

Concise, but Too Simplified
Come on, you need to know much more than what was in this book to be a structural engineer.I bought the 3rd edition right when it was fresh off the press to prepare for the NCEES Structural II exam in April 2006.I didn't take the Structural I exam so I can't say if this book is more tailored to that.However, I have to say I passed in spite of this book.The examples in the book are easy to follow, but for a good portion of them they only cover the easy special cases, not the more elaborate, more complicated variations.For how thin this book is, I think it is outrageously expensive.I was also disappointed that the concrete design aids are not updated to the current code with the revised factors.
Nothing new in the 2nd Edition
This book is good to give a quick start on your exam review. However, it is unbelievable that the new Dec 2004 version, or 2nd Edition, is still not updated to ACI-02, IBC-03, .... It is really of no big difference from its 1st edition. To those who expect to use this for your 2005 Structural I exam, be cautious about the code reference. I have so far gone through concrete, footing, prestressed concrete, and seismic. Many equations, load factors, code Equation and Section numbers are not updated. I have to say that LOTS of them are obsolete. It would be a very good reference if the author had taken time to do his homework in revising the materials. I am extremely disappointed for what turned out to be in this 2nd Edition. It does not worth the money you pay, and in many places, it leads you to obsolete code information which either wastes your time in review or affects your score in the PE/SE exam.

Good, but a ways to go...
While there are several good sources for worked sample problems available, as far as I know this is the first true review manual for the NCEES Structural Engineering Exams.I for one am glad someone finally brought book like this to market.Having worked with it for several months now, I must say my impression is that while quite good, it may have been rushed to market a bit prematurely.In light of therelatively hefty price tag, it seems like there should be a bit more depth.Concise is one thing, but Williams typically launches into a subject with little or no commentary, opting instead to let the equations do the talking.If you have a question about assumptions or how to apply an equation you're left scrambling for other references.I may be a bit spoiled having just used PPI's Mechanical Engineering Reference Manual to earn my Mechanical PE license.This is the model Williams should follow for future revisions to his work.The MERM is a stand-alone document that both teaches you the basics of a subject and documents all the required data and formulas.I would imagine by the time this book has been revised to include all it should it will have roughly doubled in thickness.Read more

WOW!
This book is truly indispensable.I looked at MANY different books, and this is BY FAR THE BEST.If you are even thinking about going to law school, this is a MUST HAVE.Very cheap, easy (actually fun) to read, and packed with useful, practical information.

It is a very good guide for anyone, intresting in applying to Law school.

Very Helpful
I really liked the no-nonsense advice in this book. Anna Ivey gives you straight up advice on how to get into your safety schools and how to tip the scales in your favor on the schools where you have a 50-50 chance of yes or no. There are some good sample essays in the back of the book that are helpful in crafting your own statement, as well as some bad ones that show you what to avoid. Helpful section on financial aid. If you only buy one book regarding the law school admissions process, The Ivey Guide should be regarded as a great primer to answer all of your questions (whether you are a recent grad or an older returning student, the over represented majority or a URM.) ... Great Resource for the Dissertation

This book is great.It has all you need to complete a research paper at any level.I used it for my bachelor's project which, according to my advisor, is equivalent to a Master's thesis in content requirement.My advisor has asked me to lend him the book so he can use it to revise the current research manual supplied by the college.This book is easy to read and has a lot of useful tables and charts.

An Excellent Guide
The Bedford Handbook is an excellent guide for anyone enrolled in a college English course. The book gives details on correct grammar usage, as well as descriptions of different essay styles. The book is very helpful to me with my English class.

I bought this book thinking i would get some good practice..instead when i opened it i thought some questions looked familiar...so i took out the 2006 version of this book and compared the two.....BOTH ARE EXACTLY THE SAME...ALL 12 TEST..ALL THE QUESTIONS...THE ORDER...THE ESSAY...i was supremely angry....So if you have the 2006 version of this book then definitely dont purchase this book....

Fact: The Best AP World History Prep Book
This is the best AP World History prep book on the market. It not only gives a fairly comprehensive review of the history required for the test, it includes comparisons, contrasts, and trends to focus on in the text. The review is concise as well, as opposed to Barrons. DO NOT PURCHASE BARRONS. I repeat, do not purchase Barrons. About half the book is meaningless details that do not help at all. It is way too long, boring, and is pretty much impossible to study from due to its length and extraneous details. The Princeton Review book presents only meaningful information and is easy to memorize. The practice tests, however, are not representative of the real test. I took the AP World History Exam on May 3, 2006---it was far, far easier than Princeton's practice tests, and I found the test itself insanely easy. Using Princeton as your sole study source, as well as thinking critically while reading--making comparisons and contrasts, analyzing trends, etc.--will certainly earn you a 3, and most likely a 4. I read a 1,000 page textbook throughout the year and by the time the test rolled around, I remembered nothing from it. This prep book, which I studied intensely, was basically my only source of information for the test; however, it was a whole lot of information. I received a 5 on the exam thanks to this book. I didn't use my crappy Barrons or unbelievably horrid Kaplan book to study. Just the Princeton Review book. Study this book throughout the school year, know it like the back of your hand (for the most part), and you will breeze through the test.

Sort of prepares you
I just took my AP exam this week, and I had used this book to help me prepare. The review information was pretty good, especially the compare and contrast and the change over time. But the sample tests were far off from the real one.

Too General. Test questions were not similar to the AP test.
I took the AP History exam on May 3, 2006.The book is too general.The practice test questions were not helpful. Friends of mine who had the AP History exam prep book by Barron's said there were questions on the AP exam that were very similar to the practice tests in the Barron's AP History test prep book.
