A kings story
I felt sorry for the duke, he must have been such a lonely man.....He never got any compliments from his father or his family. They all seemed so far away from each other. No wonder he fell in love with Wallis, she paid attention to him, this is what he needed, someone to treat him with respect and high regard, no wonder he abdicated....He wouldn't have to abdicate,but the P.M. at that time was a very vicious and ugly person who was JEALOUS of King Edward, he wouldn't even allow the king to speak to the other members on his own behalf...Queen Mum was also jealous and vicious, she did not like Wallis, because she was divorced and an american, she would not allow King George to communicate with the duke after he was exiled. The people all wanted King Edward to become King, they all loved him because of his charistma and his feelings for the common people.Edward and Diana were very much alike and treated VERY BADLY by their so called "royal families". Edward and Diana had more "guts" than all the royals together.King Edward would have been a "great" king, thanks to Queen Mum and her coldness toward Edward and Wallis caused him to live in an empty wrld. All the worl loves "lovers"and the Duke and Duchess were the lovers of the 20th century. How many people can have such a love????????I really loved this book and read it over and over.....

Vapid, yes...though totally fascinating...
I can't help it.Even though I believe that the Duke and Dutchess of Windsor were probably two of the most self-serving people ever to exist on the face of the planet, I find them totally fascinating.And this book lets us into their domaine. Imagine a man so totally mesmerized by this woman, that not only did he leave her a fresh flower on her pillow every night of their married life, he slept surrounded by photos of her (separate bedrooms). There were 10,000 photos of them in his bathtub (covered with a mahogany top. He ONLY showered.) that were discovered after her death. That means for the duration of the time that they were married, they were photographed approximately 300 times a year.Every year.The photographs of the refurbished decor in the Paris house were fascinating.Too bad everything was sold after Dodi & Diana's death.This book is truly a window into a lifestyle that no longer exists.

A Legend in Scholarship Seach Books
The world didn't begin with Adam, Eve and the PC with static IP's. In the land before time (Terminals with Internet and Monsterous E-commerce), you discovered various scholarships to apply for from books, magazines, and the news media. Students (like me) spent hours apon hours in 'scholarship listings' xeroxing every possibility that we would owe the government less after we graduated college.
The Best in the World!
If you have kids (or babysit them like I do) it's never too early to begin college planning.I wish this book had been around when I was prepping for higher education (yes, I'm from the dark ages, friends).There isn't a better book on the market when it comes to the fine art of securing scholarship money.And like my young charges, women of the U.S.A need to unite in an on-going struggle to be recognized by the university of your choice.Good luck ladies. ... Bought this book on the strength of the other reviews, but this book is horrible--other books in the same category have many more images and explanations included.

The Inside Scoop
This book was amazing. It helps you plan and think more seriously about how you plan what school you go to. It gives you information on how many students really get excepted and how much your going to be in the whole financially when your actually graduate. The only criticism I have is that it was published in 1997 but still it a great book to have for someone who is serious about grad school in film.

Good Book and Great Reference - but dated
Hey everyone!
Useful with Great Advice, But Also Downright Discouraging
The profiles on 26 different MFA programs make up the bulk of this book, and are easily the most valuable thing about it.Incidentally, this is the only section not included in the online version of FSC.These profiles give you exactly the kind of info you'll want on the film schools before applying and then after getting accepted.In addition to some interesting background material, the authors list the best & worst thing about each program, rate the programs on access to/quality of equipment, and calculate a comprehensive program cost (factoring in useful things like whether or not you'll need a car).Although the profiles were written in 1998, they seem consistent with what people are still saying about the schools more recently.Of course, things like digital equipment available at the various schools will obviously have changed quite a bit in the last five years.

Isn't that great? The Author (see below) will make improvments and release a "better" version, thanks to Amazon customers who have already wasted their money on this one. What a great life, eh? And, she gives her own book (which she vows to improve) a 5 Star rating--brutal! I guess the "improved" book will be worth 10 Stars to her!

As author of the book, I thank everyone for their kind response.I am sorry that some of the pictures are not real clear but you must remember that these company plates were salesman sample pages some from the late 1900's.The newest pictures are from 1954.Since the book has been selling for six years now and has sold over 20,000 copy someone must be satisfied with the book.Watch for our new Roseville book coming out by the end of the year.It will be a collectors size book with all the pictures and prices plus place for all your information.

Buy a 2nd guide along with this for accurate info
Somewhat better organized than the other Roseville books, however, the quality of the photos are horrible.Looks like they scanned low resolution images from a catalogs.A lot of incomplete model numbers in the pictures.If you buy this book you need to buy another Roseville book as a companion so that you can validate the information.I doubt the author is actually a collector. ... Amazing guide not book
this is a very helpful and amazing book for any money collector, and I really happy with that book

Excellent
The World Wide Web is now a major portal for the music industry to "infect" the masses, and the producers are all for this expansion into the modern world. E for Effort, but O for Outdated
This book makes a good attempt at helping aspiring musicians get started through the internet, but is generally outdated. The author doesn't consider many modern developments regarding encoding and anti-piracy. This phone book size directory has a wealth of information and is the best book of its kind that I am aware of. It lists and categorizes executive recruiters in a variety of ways including: retained firms vs. contingency firms; geographic location; industry specialization and functional specialization. Good Network Geek Stuff
Great book for the Network Administrator.Layed out like the "for dummies" series, but doesn't say "For Dummies" so you don't have to be embarrassed to have it on your bookshelf at work.It is very simple and easy to read.Each appendix is a Windows 2000 roll-out scenario complete with screen shots of each wizard box.I like this book and I'm sure I'll be referring to it often.

pretty good registration guide
this book contains sections written by a number of experienced, top registrars at museums across the nation.they know their business, and although the methods will doubtless vary from museum to museum, it gives agood overview (although a few of the authors do go into painful detail) ofthe registration process.for the most part it's a great book on ahard-to-find subject. ...
