4-0 out of 5 stars comprehensive pattern compilation/hallmarks lack
Maybe if there was some way to put all of these people in one room and force them to print one reference book for sterling flatware, then MAYBE, just MAYBE, it wouild finally be complete. While this reference is comprehensive with its coverage of patterns and companies, its hallmark references for getting to that comopany are lackluster, but aA for effort!

5-0 out of 5 stars My review on Flatware Book
This is an excellent book. I buy and sell sterling flatware and wish I had had this book years ago. The author does a superb job. The illustrations are great. I highly recommend this book!

Superb resource book, very well written and laid out.Pictures are excellent. It was so easy to use that my nine (9) year old nephew identified several obscure patterns by himself.

5-0 out of 5 stars Classic and Comprehensive
This is an amazingly thorough reference that should be on the bookshelf of every banker and MBA student.Barrons does a very thorough job.5-0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive
Working in an IT company catering to bankers I bought this book to help understand their lingo. I have to say it hasn't disappointed yet. It is also very up to date the latest IT/banking terms. If you were to read all the definitions in this book you would probably know more than you banker. A great reference. Buy it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't Let the Title Fool You
This can almost be considered an inexpensive textbook. It not only defines, but explains the terms in a simple, easy to understand format.Although in dictionary form, it consistently relates the terms to one another so the reader will understand how the concepts interwind.Includes financial and banking terms. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars thousands of resources
This book has literally thousands of resources for various grants, incentives, loans, apprenticeships, internships, and on and on. All of these items require research and WORK on the part of the applicant. It is not a book of magical phone numbers and addresses that you call to receive a check. That said, it is an invaluable resource for those who are seeking financial aid for any imaginable purpose, from starting a business to job training to arts programs to aid for veterans. All information contained (phone numbers, etc.) could easily be updated if necessary with a quick Google search.

3-0 out of 5 stars OK
Informative book. But there are not any useful resources for California residents that are above the poverty line.

1-0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars You will love it too
This is the guide that everyone recommended to me, and I'm so grateful they did. From the opening chapter, I immediately liked and trusted the author--she's an award winning fiction writer and poet who has taught at Breadloaf and many universities and who also has an insider's perspective on the publishing industry. But more impressive than her credentials is the guidebook itself. In a very clear, easy-to-read style she presents an honest, realistic and objective perspective on the world of graduate Creative Writing Programs. She doesn't push you in any one direction and she doesn't even try to convince you that an MFA is the best path to take. I felt one hundred percentbetter about my decision to go back to school after reading this book and considerably less nervous about the daunting task of putting together an application. I wish there was a way I could give this book even more than five stars. I loved it!

5-0 out of 5 stars My new favorite book!
I borrowed this book from my friend at the beginning of the summer and haven't given it back yet.Everything is well researched and accurate and the tone is friendly, but candid. She doesn't beat around the bush. She tells you excatly why certain programs have the best reputations, but points out the advantages of going to some of the other "less prestigious" or less "high profile" programs too. She's all about helping you find the program that fits you best.I STRONGLY recommend this book to anyone who's applying to graduate school in creative writing next year. You won't regret buying it.

5-0 out of 5 stars ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL
This is the best purchase I made all summer. Two people from my writers group recommended it to me and I have been recommending it to everyone I know who is either in an M.F.A. Program or applying next year. The title makes it seem like it's only for people who are thinking about applying to graduate school, but it's equally valuable for people who are there now or even people who have graduated. I will probably use this guide as a resource for the next ten years of my life. The information on writing colonies and residencies alone is worth the money. Whether you're a poet, fiction writer, or non-fiction writer, you'll wonder how you ever got along without it. An essential guide. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Really Great College Guide!
I wondered why this text hasn't been updated since 2005, but it would be a difficult book to briefly update every year, and I'm sure the information is accurate still (in October 2006).It's a great interesting book.I wasn't looking at any of these colleges for my students but I literally read this book cover to cover. It provided me with information that allowed me to better understand the top schools. There were schools I would definitely recommend to my students and others I would never even think of recommending now.
4-0 out of 5 stars great resource for college bound students
Of all the college information books i have read this one has been the most helpful.I strongly suggest it to any student interested in any of these "top schools".The student perspective gives much deeper insight into what life is like on campus. This book helped me rule out some schools i was considering, and also gave me a different view of schools i wasn't very interested in before.

5-0 out of 5 stars My college admissionssavior
I am a junior in high school currently, and this has been my BIBLE for the year.It is clearly well-researched, well-edited, and very well-informed.It is from a perspective of current students, which is excellent because I am personally too shy to talk to random people on-campus when I'm visiting the actual colleges. While it does not cover every aspect of every college, it makes no claim that it does so and it certainly gets closer than any other college guide.I didn't buy any other college books, because it has been so helpful to me in my searches. This book has served multiple purposes for me: for one thing, it opened my eyes to some places that I thought I wouldn't want to look at, but which I'm now thinking I'd like to visit. For another thing, I always read it after I get back from a college visit, to compare what I saw to what other people who actually attend say about it, to see if what I was seeing was a fairly accurate representation of the school.I love the fact that I can read through three different student reviews and see which one would be the most like me--it is so helpful when weighing schools to be able to compare onesself to the actual students. This book has lessened the stress of applying to college immensely, and I recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone starting out on the Great College Search. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Companion Volume
Alan Lee has, til recently, been living much in the shadow of Brian Froud, his co-illustrator of Faeries. Lee's more "realistic" depictions of fantasy tend to have taken second fiddle to Froud's more "free form" and "metaphysical" musings. And, while Lee has been a substantial contributor to genre films for ages (Erik the Viking comes to mind), and has contributed to other books of his art (Castles, and the Mabinogion, come to mind), it's taken Tolkien's films to break him out of his shell. In this work, Lee basically takes us along through the filming in a sort of set diary, showing us the graphic evolution of the artwork that ultimately made it to celluloid. While some of the artwork can be found in his illustrations of the Lord of the Rings trilogy (a must have edition, in my opinion), there's a surprising amount of new material in here, and fans of the Ring (movie) trilogy will find his commentaries of high interest.

5-0 out of 5 stars wonderful book
I'd recommend this book for anyone who likes arts, or at least The Lord of the Rings. The pencil artworks are fantastic, mostly very detailed; there are also a few paints in the book, you can see their pencil sketches, too, each of these painted pictures cover a full page.
5-0 out of 5 stars Illustration as Art from One of the Giants!
Alan Lee is a celebrated artist who has elected to limit his endeavors to the world of myths and fantasy (his illustrations for 'The Iliad' are state of the art). With the publication of this fine book his place in the pantheon of illustrator artists is secure.

4-0 out of 5 stars A good book if you are thinking of purchasing or just curious about time shares
I thought some of reviews were harsh and unfair. This book is the best one on the market I could find on this somewhat confusing topic. In addition, the information on buying a time share from an individual (rather than the developer), or on e-bay is probably where the bargains are found. The author points out the wisdom and the pitfalls in trying to do this. The book has a web site from which the author answered some additonal questions that I wrote in to her.Timeshares are a close call from a financial standpoint in my own opinion, however time share units are typically better than a hotel, e.g. kitchen and other amenities.
2-0 out of 5 stars More of the same
When I discovered that this book was written by the same person who wrote "Surviving a Timeshare Presentation", I really knew I had been taken. This should be "Surviving a Book Sale", because both books are weak with substance and are written by someone who probably couldn't give it away as a sales person. Why do non-producers become Authors? One of the books had a sticker on the front that said "Personally autographed" and on the inside cover, she had scribbled "Lisa".Give me a break. If you want to learn about Timeshare, take a presentation with a reputable company and ask lots of questions. They will answer them for you and they will even do the math correctly when they show you the purchase options.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good primer for beginners
I found the book fairly informative and basic for those of us completely new to timeshare. I have to think some of the reviewers here never read this book, because the author indeed goes out of her way to reference informative webpages (including tug2.net mentioned here and others) for further information.

Editorial Review

A long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, the future began. The future of fashion, that is. Of course, it wasn't quite so long ago (it was the 1970s), and it wasn't quite so far away (it was Milan, Italy). Right there and then, the world witnessed the birth of the sports coat. This one jacket spawned the beginnings of casual dress and semi-androgynous fashion. This may not seem so radical now, but think about what came before. Look back to the Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive Historical Reference
This is not a typical fashion tome. The authors have traced the historical influences of Mr. Armani as well as validlly documenting his contribution to history (both in terms of fashion and in sociological influence). The photographs are well chosen and show the broad scope of his work. The detailed description accompanying the photographs of the actual museum exhibts are informative and succinct. One unfortunate choice was to include blurbs by celebrities. These comments offer nothing in the way of understanding Mr. Armani's work and are unnecessary. That minor annoyance withstanding, this volume is a valuable addition to any library. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
I purchased this with the intent of using to help divide mailing lists by sales territory. However,I soon realized that it defines zip code areas by the first three digits only, i.e. 640, 641.This was helpful, but not nearly as much help as a five digit breakout would have been.If you need a five digit breakout, buy a wall map.
