Disappointed
The Washington, DC section is only 14 pages which is short considering only 1 store is on each page and she omitted suburban MD and VA. In the intro she mentions that Bethesda and Alexandria are just a short distance away, but she doesn't list any stores. The big furniture stores are only found in MD and VA, not within DC.

Not Enough Relevant To Me
I sat down with this book last night expecting to start the first of several nights of reading. I threw it aside about 15 minutes later surprised that I had reviewed every part that was relevant to me.
Great find
I thought this book was excellent and helpful. It really made furniture shopping fun and efficient. The guide really gives a vaid and useful description of everything you need to know to have a successful experience. FINE CONTENT MARRED BY FAINT, SMALL PRINT
This is a nice "coffee table" book about their recent exhibit. As a rider since '59, I couldn't wait to get into the text, which is divided by time periods. Essential reading for enthusiasts
Museums, exhibits and the books devolving from them only hint at the mysteries they purport to show but rarely reveal. This is particularly true of exhibits of things that move, whether airplanes, cars and motorcycles on one hand, or people on the other. Once mummified via restoration and encapsulated in historical review, these lively subjects lose their kinesthetic value and become dessicated. A Can't Go Wrong Gift
This book contains a good overview of motorcycling history, but its claims to fame are the wonderful photography and the high production values with which it was printed.It is a wonder to think that the photos are of bikes that actually exist today.Read more

Kept Me Informed When I Was Applying
Two summers ago, I had a rough list of where I wanted to apply for university. But I had no idea what I was getting into. Then I got my hands on this book and that has affected my whole list. Back then, dream school was Johns Hopkins, then Duke and Rice. Reading through all of those comments about each university, including comments from students, swapped the members of my list around. I figured I'd go for campus visits, and that's when I noticed that a lot of what I had read were definitely true; even the campus tour guides confirmed a lot of the things that were written in here.
A guide book similar to "357 Best Colleges"
I am giving this book 4 stars reluctantly becasue it really sould get only 3.5 stars. It did not live up to its title of "328 most interesting colleges." This is because it fails to tell me why each college listed in this book is interesting. Howver, it does provide information very similar to, though not as good as, "357 best colleges" by Princeton Review.
Excellent college selection reference.
This is an excellent source of information on the subject.I view it as a professional second opinion to the better-known 'The Best 351 Colleges' from the Princeton Review.Actually, both guides have a near identical structure and methodology.They both rely on extensive surveys of students who went to these schools. So, you get excellent qualitative feedback on what the schools are like.You also get a lot of quantitative information, including range of SAT scores, acceptance rate, student yield, etc...Both guides have numerous lists including best academics, and a lot of other similar lists ranking schools along a single factor.Also, they essentially cover the same pool of colleges. THIS SEEMS TO BE A GREAT RESOURCE.
I haven't actually tried to submit anything using this book but I am going to begin sending out query letters using information from this book. Because I haven't actually used the information in the book I can't say what kind of results it will garner but that would probably depend more on my material and letters than the information in this book. There are a lot of advice articles and I can saw that my letters and approach is going to be much better than it would have been had I not bought this book. I think the book is worth the price that I paid for it for the articles alonemuch less the contact information for which the book is really intended.

Excellent Resource!
All of Writer's Digest resource books are excellent.If you think about it, where else would this vital industry contact information be available?I'm getting irritated with "Quack's" comments on every Writer's Digest review page.He obviously never sent a query or manuscript to an agent (as he probably can't write one to begin with) because I've had a lot of luck sending queries, proposals, and manuscripts to agents and publishers who "say" they aren't accepting new authors, etc.I have one book deal in the works because I sent my proposal to a publisher who clearly stated, "No new authors."So Quack needs to get a life, learn how to write, and stop being such a kill joy.He'll never be a successful writer...or a successful anything.He's just too pessimistic.If you're serious about writing, you need all of the contacts and resources you can get.This book will get you started on the right path.

Great Resourse!
A dictionary isn't really that exciting, but this is truly a great resource.I'm a music education major getting my masters degree, and this book has really helped me to get a grasp on some of the information I'm studying.If you are a musician at all, especially a music teacher, invest in this book, you will use it!

Very Impressed
I bought this book for my daughter. Our friend has a degree in music and received this book as a graduation gift back in 1984. Our daughter's piano teacher required this book for her. Our music major friend was impressed and told us it would probably be at least $50. Much to our surprise we found it here for $25. It is very professionally done. We found it to be college level at a great price. We are very very happy.

I guess I ordered this book thinking it would help with a pretty normal ADD kid; instead it focuses on kids who are severely disabled, is very dry reading, and not helpful unless you have a child with a true disability.

STOP!!! Read this before buying here!!!
I live in the Chicagoland area and was just at the museum today.As expected, the dollhouse is as amazing as it was when I was a little girl.I saw this book in the gift stop.IT ONLY COSTS $24.95!!!Please, please don't pay these people double what the book actually costs!Go to the Museum of Science and Industry's website at http://site.msishops.com/books.html and look for the book at the bottom of the page.I'm sure there's shipping that's not included.There might even be tax, but it'll no doubt still be cheaper than paying these people $50-$60 for the book.What a rip-off!!!

The World's Ultimate Dollhouse
When I was 7 years old, my mother, grandmother and a cousin of mine went to Chicago, and one of the places we went was the Museum of Science and Industry.Before we went, my mother told me that as a young girl, she had seen the fairy castle when it toured the country before becoming a permanent exhibit at the museum. She told me how much she loved it, and I couldn't wait to see it. I was not disappointed. This IS the ultimate dollhouse. Every time I go to the museum, you can't get me to leave without seeing the fairy castle.I took my own daughter to see it, and now she loves it, too. The last time we went, I found this wonderful book at the gift shop, and was thrilled that now I could look at my beloved fairy castle whenever I wished. This book is a real treasure, with beautiful pictures of the castle. Anyone who loves dollhouses, and the fairy castle in particular, will love this book. It never fails to provoke happy memories for me.

Fairies Live Here!
I recently had the pleasure of visiting the castle in Chicago, and can hardly find the words to say how magnificent it was! Still, in the time I had to view it, so many details were missed. That is why this book is so great. It not only displays the castle with better lighting, it gives you a chance to savor all the tiny details you might never have seen. This is a collection of prime examples of the long gone "profile" piece in The New Yorker magazine.They just don't write 'em like this anymore!
Delightful and Revealing Profiles
Hemingway, Baryishnikov, and Henry Luce are the subjects of some of my favorite celebrity profiles in this wonderful book. But topping my list is "Man Goes to See a Doctor", the awesome Adam Gopnik's sweet and funny rendering of his shrink. This is an enormously important reference work for anyone who would like to check if a historical or contemporary figure was or is a religious believer. Most standard encyclopedias will provide whole biographies of important persons, but obscure the fact they had grave doubts about God. Many of the fathers of the American Revolution were not Christians, but deists who accepted only the existence of a prime mover not Jesus.
