A Must Have...
I have a table top sized tree and this book beside of my Nativity.I use it every Chirstmas with my kids to help tell them the story of Christmas.Each day has a small book that tells a small part of the Christmas story...now they (10, 8, 6, and 5) gather each day in December to read the stories to each other.I love it so much, I bought one for each of my kids (yes now because you never know when they will be out of print) and for all of my siblings and in-laws.

It isn't Christmas without it.
I found this book in 1994 and it has been a favorite of our boys, now 14 and 16.We misplaced it one year and didn't get to read it and hang the ornaments.We still had Christmas, but one of our favorite family traditions was missing.I was informed that I'd better find it for the next Christmas-- and I did-- and it was Christmas once again. In fact, we love this calendar/book so much that I'm buying a new one to send to my son who is away at boarding school, along with a small tree on which to hang the ornaments.Just a little piece of home to have in his dorm room. Thanks goodness it's still being published!

An beautiul family tradition...
We purchased this calendar/book set for our son when he was about 3 years old.He is just shy of 13 now and it is still a tradition to read this book before bed each night beginning on December 1st.When he was little and couldn't read, my husband and I took turns nightly reading to him.He has a very small tree in his room on his dresser where he would hang the book we read every night.Now that he is older, we still take turns reading every night (him included, of course).This calendar is a simple, yet meaningful way for the family to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ as well as count down the days until Christmas.My son will hand it down to his children one day and I will be purchasing one for my goddaughter who is just turning one.I highly recommend this! ... Lots of windows!
I am enjoying the calendar but it wasn't what I expected.It has tons of windows to open and not a lot of room to write (except for on the back).Not what I was looking for but I'll still look forward to opening each window every week.

Baby Advent calendar
Not truly what I expected. However, I gave it as a gift and the recipient liked it. Be aware that it is an advent calendar - one opens the "doors" to the weeks as they pass and there is information within regarding baby and mom. There is limited space for mom to document pregnancy happenings.

THE BEST gift to give an expectant mother!!!

Disappointing:(
I was so eager to get this calendar for our two year old and begin the fun tradition of counting down the days to Christmas. Unfortunately, this calendar did not meet my expectations.First, it's three dimensional which I hadn�t realized.It fits together with two notches and is not very sturdy when set up.I was expecting a wall calendar style which I could just put on the fridge.This tree shaped style is nice to look at but something that my toddler wants to play with all the time.It's really too flimsy to play with since it's just thin cardboard.Also, the thing is loaded with gold glitter which comes off on the hands whenever you touch it to open the windows.This is very annoying to me, a contact lense wearer, and it gets all over clothes and everything!Third, the pictures inside the windows are not very interesting (granted I've only seen two so far...) and the illustrations are all a bit fuzzy and muted in style.It's not the kid-pleaser I had hoped for. ... Beautifully illustrated
This book is a wonderfully illustrated strorybook set. I've read many different versions of the Nutcracker story, but this is better and more magical because the pictures make all the characters come to life. What's unique about this is that it has 24 little story books in one big cardboard stage. Each book has a number on it, indicating the date you should read the small part of the story on. The illustrator, Nan Brooks, has a different and unique style of drawing. I definitely recommend this book to anyone that likes the Nutcracker story and the magic of Christmas. ... Read more
