5-0 out of 5 stars Brilliant: The bridesmaid's guide to a wedding toast.
I was the bridesmaid in my friends wedding and this book provided me with the know how on delivering an exceptional toast worthy of my best friend's wedding.I would highly recommend this book to anyone.A must own

1-0 out of 5 stars Waste of Money
I bought this book based upon some of the other reviews that said it was great and they couldn't have been more wrong. I needed the book on short notice so it cost me $25 and it was absolutely useless. There is nothing useful in this book at all. I ended up just winging the toast because I didn't have time to look for another book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very helpful
My brother got married recently and I was the best man. The thought of getting up and giving the toast at the reception was really scary to me so he got me this book to help. When I read through the book I found several that made a lot of sense so I combined a couple together and added a few things of my own.It turned out great and I know I couldn't have done it without this book. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Easy to understand. Lots of exercises.
As a teacher I have found this book very practical for my students. It has plenty of resolved exercises, 100% of them focused on Business and Economics. Also this book introduces Statistics in a more "informal" way that makes it easier for a non-mathematician student to understand. It lacks strong statistic theory so if you are looking for a more profound book this is not what you would like to choose. But in terms of exercises is the best.

4-0 out of 5 stars A very good supplement
I also used this Schaum's book as a quick reference when I worked at a trading floor, but if you're taking an advanced business statistics class, then I recommend that you buy a copy of this book. Today, teaching courses in business mathematics, I recommend it to my students. In this Schaum's, you will find a concise, clear review of the theory, followed immediately by many problems with detailed solutions. Nothing is worse than in a math class than getting hung up on some idea during the semester. You will fall behind and probably not catch up. Semester after semester, my students tell me this Schaum's made a positive difference in their understanding.Check out the Schaum's on Statistics and Econometrics>
4-0 out of 5 stars Great book to understand Statistics!
Another fine book by Schaum's outline. For anyone who has lost touch with the world of statistics, this book is a must read.It has clear definitions, examples and complicated explanations if you wish to dig deeper.I recommend this book to all college students, undergraduate and even MBA students. For financial analysis, marketing, and social research, this book is wonderful. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A great pronunciation guide
This is a Brazilian pronunciation guide made by native speakers (Brazilians) for foreigners. Dialogs are clear, interesting and never artificial-sounding. Every chapter has a nice linguistic intro to get you familiar with the topic. Buy it if you don't have it. Marvelous work!

1-0 out of 5 stars Saudades not saldades!
This work grorifies poor Portuguese. It is not good saying 'tenho muitas saldades' when you mean 'tenho muitas saudades' for I miss you very much. It is even worse when people spell the word wrong simply because they cannot pronounce it. It becomes a vicious circle. Instead of pretending this is acceptable, a better job would be done teaching these Brazilian people how to speak and write the language correctly. Otherwise you are not helping the Brazilian people or their language.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best way to speak Brazilian Portuguese like a Brazilian.
The CDs are quite helpful with the nuances and proper pronunciations of Brazilian Portuguese. It is even better when you have a Portuguese teacher guiding you through it. I highly recommend this textbook for those who are serious about learning this beautiful language. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars good intermediate instruction book with 3 audio CDs
I found this book helpful to make progress with my Vietnamese. This book is your typical classroom book. It's great if you have a partner to do the exercises (I had a tutor, since I couldn't take the class). I especially enjoy listening to the dialogues on the audio CDs and try to understand the language as it is spoken in real life.
4-0 out of 5 stars CHUNG TA NOI
I have been learning Vietnamese for over five years have not followed any structured course or school, and this is the discipline approach I need.I have only been through Chapter 1, and it has a lot of new vocabulary with an emphasis on verbs. The vocabulary used is from North Vietnam and the Southern equivelents are not given.I like the info on Vietnamese culture in the exercises, and each chapter has some ca dao (Vietnamese proverbs) to learn. The CDs sound like a few college students gathered around a tape recorder, and the sound quality could be better. The listening exercises are challenging, with both North and South speakers represented. The CD does not give the English eqivalents to the dialog or vocabulary.Pure and fast Vietnamese only.Amazon says the book is only 19 pages but it is actually 400.Very comprehensive.I look forward to improving my Vietnamese with this book.Another good book at this level is Intermediate Spoken Vietnamese. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Very easy and practical guide to writing quickly & efficient
Very easy and practical guide to writing quickly & efficiently! I bought this book because I am tired of writing everything in longhand and I'm not a very fast typist. I am currently writing a book and am tired ofgetting hand cramps from so much writing. This book teaches a system ofwriting that is understandable & easy to learn. It has you write wordsthe way they sound, and leaves out most of the vowels. Example: i wl cu u n- kr. Translation: I will see you in the car. I have heard bad reviews onhow hard short hand is to learn because of all the symbols. Quickhand is alife saver! Buy the book. Even if you just use a few examples in writing itsaves a lot of time and space when transcribing your ideas to paper. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Exactly What I Need!
This book is proving to be exactly what I need in order to go from being proficient to being ADVANCED with MS Word. The lay-out and design caught my eye immediately; I'm really impressed with how the manual is structured. The writing style is friendly and uncomplicated. I was pleased to discover that Bill included details and instructions which were omitted in the Word '97 version. So far, I've found complete and accurate answers to every question I've had. I love the projects at the end of each chapter! And the "Tips from Bill Camarda" are very, very cool.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars We should constantly remind yourselves
I don't know if I'm the best person to rate this book ...'cause I LOVE this dude,i think Larry is awesome and this book is too, I mean it's about communication and he is the king! The book is like a rule bookon how to be a better communication person,we all have heard many of his tips in life before but we just don't remember to use it on a daily basis and that's what it brings up to ushow to usethe things to know intalks and basically LISTEN ,LISTEN ,LISTEN..pretty much the key

4-0 out of 5 stars A Reminder
This book is a good time killer. You don't have to read it straight on through because there are different sections to it. It took me about 3 weeks to read this book.
3-0 out of 5 stars not particularly insightful....
This book provides some good tips, but they are not particularly insightful. Larry King treats his readers as extremely shy ppl or those who cannot even strike a conversation with a stranger. I think anyeone with average social skills would already know most of the things mentioned in his book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Valuable Collection!
This is a thoroughly enjoyable and valuable collection of business humor anecdotes. I found them to be very useful on many speaking occasions. In the same business/humor category, I would like to also highly recommend the the hilarious satire: "MANAGEMENT BY VICE", as another great source of witty-sharp, humorous anecdote-like episodes and workplace wisdom --- in prose, easy-to-recall, apply and repeat brief verses and comic illustrations. The follies of mis-management in high-tech R&D were applicable to numerous business situations. Combining the wit in both these books, I found much to chuckle over and discuss with my close friends and on many diverse business social occasions!

5-0 out of 5 stars Extremely Useful & Well Organized

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best MT Book You Can Own
Except for texts such as Dorland's, Drug Indexes, etc., this is probably the best MT book you can get.It is not only a course in itself (it needs to be used in conjunction with the workbook of the same name) but is a useful reference for as long as you work in medical transcription.Withself discipline (you need that to work at home anyway) you can make thisbook substitute for just about any tech college or correspondence course inthe subject.

1-0 out of 5 stars Before buying this book.
I wish I had known this book must be used with Delmar's Medical Transcription Handbook. I was under the impression that it would be more like HPI's Medical Transcription Workbook. I am studying for Part 2(practical)of the CMT exam and was hoping this would be helpful. This booktakes basic to a new level. One of the questions is "Describe thedifference between rewind and review, the fast forward and cue." If youare still interested, you need to be aware that the answers are notincluded.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent choice for newbies and oldies for honing skills.
This book is an excellent condensed resource book for basic generalized information specific to Medical Transcription. There are breakdowns of words, terminology, tests an exercises for skill building. It is basically a text book used apparently for Medical Transcription.I would recommend it highly for anyone going into this field or returning to it ... Read more

I ordered this book to get some useful hints to improve the building and telling of (funny) sorries. I recieved a motley collection of what sorries supposed to do and general knowledge on sorries and humor.

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Book On Public Speaking
This is one of the most valuable books on public speaking that I have read. Before you buy a book on one liners, joke book or how to keep them laughing. Read this book and findout how to develop your own personal stories. I took it page by page and found that I had an amazing number of stories to develop. As she says: Your own stories will ring true. I know a CEO of a large company that starts each speech with a very dumb joke that he seems to think works. He must pay a lot to his speech writer. In real life people laugh at old jokes that are O.K., but they are still old.I have been crafting my own stories after reading this book. It makes me sound like a more interesting person than I am. It has got to be a lot fresher material, Im the only one that lived it.I bought a bunch of joke books early on and I wish I could get my money back. They become boring so fast. The only story worth telling is one that is relevant to your point. That is where this book comes in.The book details so many aspects of humor. How to use humor. Where it comes from. Shaping stories. The best in the Essence of Public Speaking Series. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars "A Heartfelt Toast For The Ones We Love"
A truly remarkable book! Once I picked it up, I couldn't put it down. Original, creative, heartfelt and sincere toasts. "Crisp Toasts" is the answer for "those of us" who don't know exactly what to say and when to say it. It gives you direct guidance on helping you find the "perfect" toast for the "perfect" couple. Sincere and meaningful examples are given, some serious and others funny, and insight as to which one is appropriate depending on the situation. I have recommended it to many friends and relatives. 4-0 out of 5 stars Book is Oversimplified
This good book is too simplified. Layout and generous screen captures are good, but some graphics are too cute.I learned several things from it, but the audience for this book is on par of a "dummies" book.
