If you follow this program, you will pass the NCE exam.I used it for 3 weeks prior to taking the exam, and I passed with flying colors.Just listen to one audio CD each day and read the corresponding questions in the Encylopedia of Counseling.You won't need luck.Well worth the money.

Vital Information and Review Questions for the NCE and State Counseling Exams
The content is excellent.My only complaint is with the CDS there are no tracks, therefore you are unable to stop and repeat a section.Once the CD is started you are committed to listening to it entirely.

Lucky for me we have translators.
Have this, didn't use it..can't imagine popping open a book in front of a patient and reading a line from a book. I think these books are useless in major hospitals. If you're in a community hospital this may be of use since more and more people are less willing to translate out of fear of a lawsuit.
disapointing
The book was disapointing.Material is not organized by the level of difficulty.Very simple sentences and phrases are placed next to gramaticly advanced ones. The best book/cassette crash course for health workers
There are at least three books on the market for health care workers who wish to learn enough spanish to help their Latino patients. I have all three and think that this is the best one. The others have many dialogues and phrases that are simply unrealistic and would never need to be known by a nurse or a doctor. You end up wasting your time learning phrases that you will never use. This book (be sure to get the cassettes also as they have all of the essential phrases so you can practice your pronunciation) has words and phrases which mirror reality. i found these tapes are decently good. they became like my buddies. i enjoy listening to them. most of the words are very useful in day to day life.

More of an ad blitz than a teach yourself rapid reading.
Picked this book up with an interest in increasing my reading speed, but was disappointed when the book turned out to be one big ad for the Evelyn Wood Speed Reading Courses.Most of the book was devoted to informing the reader how fast and efficiently they could study, and how successful their courses are.There was very little instruction and what was there was vague.The book ended up being of negligible help to my reading speed.

Read over and over until you get it.
Every junior high, high school, and college student should read this book. It takes lots of practice to learn how to do it proficiently but once you've got it figured out you'll love how fast you can read and how well you can retain the information.

Very Good
It's a very good book.It teach you not only the words but it teach you how to use words. You can learn the correct grammar, the accent and most important the context.
Are you tired of speaking in childish English?!!
I would like thank Slangman David Burke for his wonderful books. Actually, this series helped me a lot to understand American culture and daily conversations , especially with its comical pictures.May be the main attracting feature of this book which also has differentiated it from other similar idiom books is its nice division of slangs into some daily topics with pictorial format.
This book is WAY COOL!
I recommend this book "BIG TIME"!! It's the most useful book I have found on American slang and idioms. A wonderful, exciting course! Well worth the money!
Father Keating eloquently re-expresses timeless truths in the light of modern ways of knowledge, with humor and great clarity. He talks sense, and isn't afraid to question established ideas. He isn't afraid to challengeus. He employs modern approaches including developmental psychology tore-present the wisdom of Christ in ways which resonate deeply with themodern mind. His clarity on a par with Anthony De Mello"s"Awareness", but he goes beyond theory to shows us how we canincreasingly apply spiritual truths through our life, prayer andmeditation. De Mello shunned techniques, which he regarded as programming.Easy for him to say, but we deluded ones need to start somewhere, and Fr.Keating shows us how to start.As long as we understand that "the mapis not the territory"I think there is benefit in having a map of thepath we are to progress. Father Keating offers us what seems to be a goodone. Christians of any denomination who are stuck, or who cannot make senseof mainstream Church teachings in our age will I think come away with therenewed enthusiasm born of seeing things from a whole new angle.FatherKeating shows us that the genuine teachings of Christ have great meaningand power. They have undiminished validity in our age. But our world-view,our whole paradigm today is different from that of 2000 years ago. Metaphors which convinced people fairly easily then are often not nearly sopersuasive to our more questioning minds today. Some of the teachingsneed to be re-expressed in the light of modern ways of knowledge in orderfor us to be able to fully appreciate and participate in their validitytoday. Father Keating does this with startling clartiy. Others who areinterested in meditation and spirituality will no doubt be surprised todiscover what Father Keating has to teach. There is a commonality betweengenuine contemplative or mystical approaches to the ultimate which comesacross very strongly here. I believe this, yet many claim tohave had this experience, and some of them do not show the exemplarybehavior one would hope to see from such a person. I think Fr.Keating castssome light on why this is often so. Anthony De Mello tells a story of a manwho went to a village and showed them how to make fire. So for a time,everyone participated in this great miracle, and gained warmth and theother benefits of fire. But after the man was gone, the people made atemple to that man, and enshrined the fire making instruments, told greattales of the wonder of fire, perhaps had heated theological arguments overthe merits of different firemaking methods... But there was no more fire..It appears that people like the anonymous medieval monk who wrote "TheCloud of Unknowing" had developed the "technology ofenlightenment" which allowed humans to participate in the mystery ofGod, rather than just waiting around for posthumous salvation. I had longsuspected that Christian Mysticism offers "technology ofenlightenment" akin to Buddhist practices, butfound Christian Mysticwritings impenetrable compared to the clarity of modern Buddhist authors.Fr. A Brilliant and Humorous Expose of Deluded Science
There is little I can add to the excellent comments already presented here.The only thing that could have improved this volume would have been a bibliography.

An excellent, curious collection
Gardner, in his usual fine style, tackles biorhythms, ESP, quantum theory, black holes, faith healing, and much more.The collection also includes letters from readers and the author's replies, which make the book especially intriguing.A large collection of fascinating topics.

The simple, effective arguments against pseudoscience
I first read this book almost twenty years ago and even though some of the events and principals have faded into oblivion, the basic theme has not. While there are some negative consequences of science, in many ways they are secondary to the enormous benefits. The number of ways in which the scientific approach has benefited our lives are clearly too numerous to mention. And yet, there are those who, largely for personal gain, choose to ignore it when it is advantageous to do so. When that advantage is financial, we can at least understand them, even while we consider them despicable. The saddest of all are the ignorant masses who fall victim to the nonsense that the charlatans dispense. Read more

Great!.......but still buy the book
Every story a woman ever needed to hear is there. You will be swept up by the warm, rich quality of Dr. Estes' voice. Her analysis of the stories clean the windows of your mind and give you fresh tools to unlock gates and open the windows to your soul.This is one though that you still want to have in print!

Not As Good As the Book but Worthwhile Nonetheless
Although this audio cassette claims to be abridged, which it is, it also contains information not printed in the book, which to me seems odd. This is the only reason I retain both book and audio cassette. Worse than wrong
Ms Estes book is pernicious nonsense. She is a shining example of new age muddleheadedness. Such pretentious intellectual blather so easily leads to unadulterated self indulgence. That her "work"is a hit makes meshudder. Jack Rosenbaum, aka Werner Erhard, pulled off a similar financialcoup with EST. ESTes, with an e, is right in the soupscam with EST and thebucks that follow. Don'ttake civ pro without it!!!
I spent almost an entire semester feeling that I wasn't completely grasping civ pro. Two weeks before finals I bought this audiotape supplement. I wound up with an A- in the class. Buy the tapes they're more than worth it.

Joey Glannon Rocks!!!!
This tape is very good, it comes with a little booklet full of hypotheticals.Since Civil procedure is a dry subject its nice to have somebody explain it on tape, while you don't have to read it.Outline this tape and buy also The Glannon Guide to Civil Procedure, Learning Civil Procedure Through Multiple-Choice Questions and Analysis, also by Glannon.Glannon actually makes Civpro interesting.

Way better than the book.

Worth every penny!
My wife bought this book for me, and it was a Godsend.Chapter lessons are bite sized and arranged in logical/relational order; interpersonal phrases, cultural issues, admission, discharge, fundamental anatomy, hygiene issues, medication issue, etc.

Only Love can Heal the Soul
When things fall apart it is not the mind that will ultimatley save us but our heart and soul. Our intellect can serve our best interests when it conjures up strategies that align with our hearts. That said, there is a reason why it often takes a tragedy to push someone to reconnect with God and divine inspiration. Not talking about religious addiction ... but rather that miracle of surrendering to the flow and what a more divine plan has in mind. Chodron goes to the "heart" of the matter ... the broken heart that is left in tatters .... where the healing is first and foremost demanded. The cure for the pain lies in the pain ... and in harnessing a greater spiritual force. A must read!

Feeling pretty bad?Read this.
I happened across this book by accident when a lot of things in my life were truly falling apart.Pema Chodron will some day be reknowned as a very significant spiritual leader, if she is not already.She has an amazing way of bringing spiritual truth down to the executional level.You can do these things, and doing them helps - a lot.I can't recommend this highly enough to anyone who is struggling.

It helped me-a survivor
I have to say that this book helped me on my way to recovery. It gave me alot of insight and helped me to see me for me. It changed my life! This book is proven effective, the exercises are helpful and makes it not as painful as we think it will be. I say this is great therapy! If you want it, it's a great start!

This is definitely worth a listen
This tape describes a process of inner work that I think has great potential.One basis of this process is that the author, who experienced serious abuse as a child, feels most "talk therapy" has limited value, and that instead of going to a therapist (or, in addition to, optionally), this process has the ability to *truly* and permanently heal your past. This is something you can do by yourself at home, easily. At times, particularly during the beginning, the tape may seeme rudimentary (inner child, trauma, unconscious mind, etc.), but on the other hand it's very comprehensive and is a necessary foundation, and plenty more awaits.Later, the power of the tape comes through.She describes a "meditative" (for lack of a better word) process which is the core of the tape, but she includes a LOT of other techniques, processes, strategies, viewpoints, visualizations, etc.She does not shy away from the spiritual domain, fortunately.I have just added this to my regular meditation time, and so far think it has great value.Anyone familiar with Victor Sanchez's (Teachings of Castaneda) "recapitulation" process will find this familiar, as I did, but this is an easier (no special equipment), much more deeply developed process here.Anyone wanting to develop (or add to) a regular practice of self-healing or spiritual "work" should buy this tape. ... Entertaining and didactic!
This instructional tape is entertaining and very instructive.The vocabulary words are used in short stories in which two actors are constantly explaining the meaning of words and using synonyms without losing fluidity of the story.Then the words are reviewed giving the listener a chance to recall the words after hearing them each in a sentence.Improves vocabulary and is very funny.I recommend this audio 99.99%.

A MUST for All Americans--not just history buffs

This audiobook is an excellent addition to the U.S. history-buff's glove compartment.There are basically four tapes of interviews by Roger Mudd done for the History Channel.Mudd asks questions to the featuredhistorians and they respond with stories and factoids to keep you thinking. About James Dobson
I Lived in Colorado Springs just down the road from focas on the family for several years and the review I read about what James Dobson was saying struck me as funny. This man claims to be a godly and rightgious man hiself yet he is only in this for the money as well. You go into the gift shop at focas on the family and when you go to purchase anything in there on it, it says donation price is.... So that Mr Dobson does not have to pay taxes on it. So Who is the hipocrite here????? I do not know if this book is true or not but I would like to keep an open mind. None of us in this world knows the truth that lies out there the greatest gift we can give to ourselves and others is pure love and I think that is what is trying to be said in this book. There is no wrong or right way there is just faith and the ultimate to except everyone and everything and to obtaine that higher level and to love one another unconditionally......

Finally
I grew up in the church, l was bombarded with the bible and its endless threats of sin and hell. Finally through the Conversations of God books I have discovered a God that loves us all. Would you torture the ones you love for making mistakes? God is love. More love than you could ever understand. I am thankful to have found the truth, Finally! Thank you God.
