Good Map
This is a good, clear map which is easy to read.The vinyl cover is a definite plus.It helps keep the map clean and notes can be tucked inside it.

Solid Road Atlas
Rand McNally is a consistantly good road atlas.The 2006 issue was very helpful in planning my recent trip.It doesn't replace the on-line maps or city atlases that show every street, turn, and such, but when you run into a temporary interstate closure, it answers the question of what is my best option now.

As easy as it gets
Ever since my first trip to NYC in 1989, I have relied on having a -no more than 2-3 years old- copy of Rand McNally in our rented car.

Great
I found one error the first time I opened the book (an incorrect page number in the index), but that's the only one I found on a 2,000 mile road trip. Served us well, was fun to use. It's certainly oversized, but we'll keep it in our car and reference it freqently. Recommended.

Well done but not as good as in the past
This is better than the lower cost Rand McNally Atlas.
Spiral-bindings make all the difference!
This is a road atlas designed for use while actually in a car. The spiral-binding is a must for ease-of-use. And, Rand McNally isn't one of the biggest names in map-making for nothing. An excellent product. ... Read more

Exceptional atlas
If you are planning a trip to Nova Scotia, start here. This truly excellent atlas has topo features, cities and towns, roads, and what are probably no more than paths or tracks. It contains about 90 individual maps covering all of Nova Scotia, more than you ever wanted to know. Never having visited the Maritimes, I cannot attest to its accuracy, but it gives every appearance of being a superbly useful set of maps, professionally and carefully prepared.

Essential for anyone travelling within Nova Scotia, Canada

The Perfect Road Atlas for Serious Travelers!
This is certainly the best road atlas I've ever come across. I've owned my own copy for about 7 years and absolutely love it. The binding is very durable, and I take it everywhere with me. In addition to accurate and clear road maps, it also contains a ton of additional useful information for people interested in pure vacationing. I've crossed at least 30 states with this atlas. I just hope NG continues to offer revised versions of this atlas in the future. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Superior work
I've owned this atlas for five years.It is BY FAR the best I've ever had.I travel a lot of miles every year in some of the remotest drivable areas in the U.S.This collection has never let me down.When WILL they put out a new edition?!

Convenient, but needs to be updated
I purchased this in 2003 for a trip later that year. I had no problems getting around, but after multiple trips to the city I would recommend buying a map once you're in the city. I spotted a minor error with the subway listings, and they list a non-existent green space in the Annex neighborhood...I askeda passerby and they had no idea where it could be! The TTC (Toronto Transit Commission) has free, to-date-maps that are available in all the stations with agents. So do some booths at Pearson Airport. Still, the foldable, waterproof format is super-convenient. Just remember to pick up a more current map and carry the Streetwise one when you're walking around for general reference.

Great, great, great
So easy to use! Although orienting yourself with North was a little challenging at 1st. The fact that the map is laminated is a definite plus! This is something I can use over and over again, I even gave one as a gift to a friend who lives in Toronto and they love it as well!
Wish I'd had this the last time I visited Hogtown...
... you can bet I'll have it with me when I go back.The usual Streetwise quality is evident in this map; the only quibble I have with it is the rather odd orientation.Thanks to the fact that all Streetwise have to fit into their standard rectangle shape, and the somewhat unusual shape of Toronto means that in order to fit it in, it has to be oriented with north nowhere near "up".Once you get used to that, though, you have a dandy, sturdy map of Toronto, including the TTC subway lines. ... Unorganized, Not durable
I have had this atlas for about 9 months. I am not so pleased with the overall organization on the maps. It is not easy to follow a route when it moves to another page. Lacks good page to page references and sometimes the next map is dozens of pages apart. But the worst thing is that I recently took it on a trip and the heat in the car caused the glue in the binding to melt and all the pages fell out. Worthless now.

Best of the Best
Without a doubt the best road atlas you can buy.Spiral binding makes it so much easier to handle without destroying it.
A good road atlas
THis is a pretty good looking road atlas.The spiral binder makes it less likely to end up like the glued and stapled atlases.The large scale maps are easy to read, even across the cab so you can see what she is telling you.

Not very Helpful
I was somewhat disappointed as only about one thrird of this little book is Information about trains. The other part is a general travelguide. Not very useful
I was somewhat disappointed with this book. Only one third of it is actual information about train-travel. Most of it is a general travelguide with informations about the cities etc. THE Canadian rail book!!
This is THE ultimate canadian rail travel book.I would even recommend this book for those driving through Canada.The author gives advise (very detailed) on where to eat, sleep, sight-see, and so on.I urge everyone to find this book at your local bookstore and thumb through it.Then buy it here.At the end of the book it even guides you along the train journey by listing the significant sights along the way (such as....at Mile marker 26 towards the south, you'll see the cemetary containing 145 victims of the Titanic).Best of all, it displays all of the VIA Rail timetables and how many calendar days each leg of the trip takes.This is especially useful for those on the CANRAIL pass package.YOu can literaly plan your entire itinerary from this single book.The size allows you to easily stow it in a small camera bag or purse.The PERFECT Canadian travel book. ... Map lovers take note
This book is a history of exploration of the North American continent, revealed mainly in pictures and maps of the particular exploration. It starts with John Cabot's exploration off the coast of Newfoundland in 1497, and ends with Peary's race to the North Pole in 1909. Scores of important exploring ventures are described and mapped. An added feature is a very thorough bibliography. A feast for the eye--and mind.

A beautiful but flawed book...
In creating this book of maps, the authors have not merely stepped on one of my pet peeves.They have kicked it, stompedit, gouged it, whipped it, and beaten it with a stick.My pet peeve is maps that have no mileage scale.I see it all too often in newspapers and magazines.Maybe ignorant reporters and editors can be excused.But how can these scholars give us an entire book of maps without a single mileage scale?Besides knowing the routes of the explorers, we want to know how far was their journey from one point to another. Valuable.Only a few criticisms.
This atlas serves a real need for any serious student of North American history.The alternative is to chase down many sources that have individualized map information for individual explorers.Read more

Low clearences
I just purchased this book and found it to be very good until I wanted to check for a low clearence. Each state has all of their counties listed with the clearences in feet and inches. The bad news no where on any of the maps does it name any counties. So the book is useless to me for that reason.
