5-0 out of 5 stars Finding the rainbows
An unbelievably good choice partnering this map with the guide book Hawaii the Big Island Trailblazer.way to go!!Thank you Amazon and the makers of these products.
5-0 out of 5 stars used it for two weeks in the rental car, then gave away
I spent two weeks on the Big Island taking helicopter flying lessons at the Kona airport.I kept this map in the rental car and referred to it daily, then gave it away at the end of the trip to the helicopter school for other students to use.Very useful and clear.

4-0 out of 5 stars Knowledge
Still reading the book as part as an old hobby regarding the origin and nature of our world.
5-0 out of 5 stars An extraordinary book
Charles H. Hapgood was a professor at Keene State College in Keene, New Hampshire who used the Piri Re'is map and others as a student project in the early 1960s to examine the origins of ancient maps. The Piri Re'is map was ostensibly a Turkish copy of a copy of a map that showed the new world before Columbus "discovered" it. It appears that Columbus believed that there was a new world to be found precisely because the map already showed it to be there!
4-0 out of 5 stars worth reading and useful to undertsand Columbus travels
The reviewer from Antwerp makes very useful comments which I agree, but he makes a mistake when talking about Christopher Columbus.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good basic map
I purchased this map to help my kids keep track of the location of their father in Iraq.It is all on one side so we could post it on a large bulletin board. It works well for our purpose.I only which it showed long. and lat. but it is meant to be a road map so I suppose I am expecting a lot.

4-0 out of 5 stars The best of a weak collection of available materials
This product is useful for area familiarization for the American on his or her way to Iraq, the best of three different maps I ordered.A good reference for the lay of the land of the entire country, but no detailed inserts of cities other than central Baghdad. The map is printed on only one side, so there would have been more than enough space to cover the provincial cities. The ITM Baghdad map is not quite so worthwhile, almost no detail whatsoever, but a handy sketch of the main districts of the city. I had hoped to find maps with the Arabic script place names alongside the English, but perhaps that was too much too hope for.

4-0 out of 5 stars Perfectly serviceable map of Iraq
Bought this to be able to follow news reports. It has towns, cities, roads, railways, political divisions, contour lines and color coding, oilfields (though not very detailed).Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great reference book
My Oregon oversized atlas arrived promptly and I used it recently for a trip along the Oregon coast. It provided a lot of helpful information and I find it pertinent for the full enjoyment of any road trip.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Oregon must!
If you plan on doing anything in the outdoors here in Oregon, this atlas is a sure guide to the state!

5-0 out of 5 stars Delorme Excels Again
My tour of Oregon would have been far less exciting without Delorme's Atlas. As with others in this series it is not only a great source of detailed local maps but filled with general information about the area, along with specific locations of towns, scenic areas and special destinations, even if they are on obsure or little used roads. As a waterfall fan I was especially pleased with the ways they were included on the maps. I would have missed many of these and other interesting sights without the guide. Never travel without a Delorme. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Not impressed
This book is entitled "GPS Mapping, Make your own maps" I see little in the book that tells you in any kind of clear or concise way how to do that. The book is little more than a review of various mapping softwares, which can easily be found just searching the internet.

5-0 out of 5 stars Covers all of the major brands of mapping software
Every month more than 200,000 GPS units are sold to the general public and while learning to use a GPS is quite easy, choosing which software to use can be quite complicated and confusing. Very highly recommended, GPS Mapping: Make Your Own Maps by conservationist and outdoorsman Rich Owings informatively guides readers through all the diverse choices they face and explains just how to combine the fun of high-tech with the security of paper maps for their outdoors, wilderness, and travel activities. GPS Mapping covers all of the major brands of mapping software (including sources of free software and maps), and explains how to use aerial photos, satellite imagery, and viewing backcountry locations in 3-D. Thoroughly "user friendly", GPS Mapping significantly expedites the learning curve and will speed the outdoor recreation enthusiasts into a rapid expertise in the use of their GPS units.
5-0 out of 5 stars GPS Mapping - A real keeper!

4-0 out of 5 stars Virginia Atlas & Gazetteer - Tons of content
This Atlas, like all in the DeLorme series of Atlas & Gazetteer references, are wonderful map resources.A wealth of information is included. If anything, the level of detail, coupled with the topographic information, may seem a bit too much at first glace (if you are new to these guides). But if you're willing to spend a bit of time with the maps, you will find these guides to be very useful.
5-0 out of 5 stars Virginia Atlas and Gazetteer, 4th ed
Like all Gazetteers by DeLorme, the Virginia version is excellent. The accuracy is commendable, although I do have several minor suggestions for the immediate area where I grew up.They are things that no one would know other than one who had lived there for a period of time. The Gazetteers are amazingly interesting and useful.

3-0 out of 5 stars Too big
The map was quite legible, and seemed accurate. But it was very unwieldy, due to its large size.Trying to unfold and fold it in a small car just didn't work.

5-0 out of 5 stars great trip planner
I constantly get asked about good maps to plan out trips through Scotland.Michelin really gives you a good one.Large so 'baby boomer' eyes can see all the details. It's clearly marked so it's very easy to use, with a trip times chart.I especially liked they have the outer isle marked well. Some maps of Scotland will skimp on these. So if you are going to Lewis or Skye then this one is hand.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great state atlas but not without its faults
I really like this Atlas and have found it very useful for mapping out bike routes. It's great for finding the back country roads.Unfortunately, it doesn't distinguish between paved and gravel roads and the topographic information is useless, since the elevation line separation is 60 feet.In Indiana, 60 foot elevation changes can include entire hills.I've looked at other maps and atlases, and unless you want to buy several small, regional, topographical maps from the USGS this is the best book out there for the money.

5-0 out of 5 stars Incredibley detailed maps of the entire state
DeLorme's new Indiana Atlas & Gazetteer should be a big help in tracing Indiana's tributary streams to Lake Michigan. It features incredibly detailed maps of the entire state, showing all its majorhighways, back roads, lakes, streams, and rivers in an easy-to-use bookformat.Topographic shading and GPS grids add an extra level of detail andusability to these maps to satisfy even the most avid outdoors people.Thefull-size, 11 X 15 1/2-inch paperback book is perfect for the car or truck,RV, fishing boat, or backpack.Bill Takacs, MidWest Outdoors Indiana,Feb., 1999 ... 5-0 out of 5 stars wonderful guide to manhattan
I had been to New York probably about 10 times before, but usually with friends of mine that lived there.I just came back from a solo weekend in Manhattan, and used this book as my only guide. It helped out so much.It gave me just the right amount of information fo what I wanted to do.The best part was that it fit right into the back pocket of my jeans with no problem.I found myself taking it out constantly - especially for the subway map.Definitely worth it!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Well needed and used book. Get this if you are visiting NY
This book is amazing. If you actrully use it, you will find it indespensible. The good points.
4-0 out of 5 stars Don't leave home without it
My brother-in-law, who lives on Manhattan's upper West side, pulled out his NFT when we met for lunch in the Financial District. Immediately, I leafed through the whole thing, looking for info that I needed for my 5-day stay in NYC. It had everything - subway & bus routes, restaurants, bike paths, a decent map of Central Park - in a small profile, easily fitting into a jacket or outside pocket. One of the things I disliked about travelling in NYC is having to pull out a map when trying to navigate. This, to me, simply announces "I'm a TOURIST," which in certain areas may be considered undesirable. But the small profile of the NFT makes it easy (and quick) to focus in on the part of town your are in, as well as the part of town where you want to go.

5-0 out of 5 stars very good
Using this for our second visit to the Canyon. It is a nice idea to have this if you would like to go exploring.Use this with an informative book also.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very useful but limited in its area of coverage
While the description above is accurate in what is included, it omits that there is a large area to the west that's in the Park that is not shown on this map.The Trails Illustrated map of the GC includes this area so that if you want to explore anything west of 112 15'W, you'll need to get the TI map.

2-0 out of 5 stars The 2004 edition STILL suffers inaccuracies
I attended college in Nevada and volunteered for the BLM in Nevada. I have traveled extensively throughout the state's rural areas since the 1980's; and several times over.
3-0 out of 5 stars May mislead the unwary
The DeLorme Nevada Atlas & Gazetteer is useful if you're planning to travel off of Nevada's main highways. But there's a notable flaw that I hope DeLorme will correct in future printings. The atlas shows many spots, represented by a black diamond as a "City or Town" according to the key on the inside front cover, that are no such thing. Some of those places are deserted. Others may have a house or two but no services. You may run out of gas if you rely solely on this atlas.4-0 out of 5 stars Great trip planning tool
I use the Delorme Gazetteers, including this one, for planning my fishing trips every year. They include comprehensive coverage of the state in question with sufficient detail to identify all the major topological features one will find, including streams and lakes. Also, they show all the roads. One criticism is that they don't contain road mileages between locations, unlike a highway atlas. But, a highway atlas will not show topographic coutour lines, or indicate locations where one may launch kayaks or rafts, or show locations reputed to have good fishing.I keep a Delorme Gazetteer for each state in which I expect to travel on any extended drive. They enable me to find campgrounds (in the indexes and shown on the maps), roads, topography, and all the essentials to plan a trip. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A Book for Writers and Map Lovers
This book defies genre. It is an examination of the correlation between writers and map-makers.If you love maps, and want to incorporate some of that passion into your writing, this is the book for you.I find myself coming back to it frequently, like a reference book on how to write the sort of story I'd like to read.
5-0 out of 5 stars A satisfying read.
While I'm only just halfway through this book -- after purchasing it only a day ago, I couldn't stop reading! -- I can say I highly recommend this book. While not a "reference" book in the sense that I will go back to it for how-tos and guides, it is filled with gems of information, quotes and story snippets. This is the sort of book you go back to again and again for encouragement and inspiration. I can hardly wait to finish it.

This book is so well-written, and it branches out to cover so many different topics. Also, it is a beautiful book--just the right weight, beautiful paper and cloth binding, and it's easy to open the book flat for easy viewing of its many illustrations. ... Read more
