Excellent Road Map
Not only is it an easy to follow road map but it includes points of interest with descriptions...A 'must have' for a tourist in a new territory to be discovered!

In the past, I have purchased several of the Gazetteer maps. One of the chief reasons I purchase a Topo type map is because I am a Rockhound. A large portion of good minerals and rock formations are generally located at or near mines. The Gazetteer has always been a quick and easy reference for roads and trails to these areas. Not so with the New Mexico version. I have found no mines or quarries anywhere within this map. I feel cheated for if I had looked at it prior to purchase, I would not have bought it.

I prefer this one
Unlike others, I prefer the New Mexico Atlas and Gazetteer over the Benchmark New Mexico Road & Recreation Atlas.The reason is that the gazetteer shows state and federal lands - places where I'm not tresspassing.That's important to me.I carry them both, but the gazetteer gets used. ... Read more

A complete and useful guide
A good resource for any student entering the field of North American Indian studies, this book is carefully organised and rendered.Waldman traces the many facets that have been used to explain who the North American Indians were, how they lived and where.The text is clear and direct, well-suited to the novice in this area of study.The wealth of maps and other illustrative material well supports the narrative, although space restrictions force a certain level of clutter at times.
Good info, well organized
While I enjoy this book and its wealth of info and maps, it is a shame that the only map in color is on the cover. 4.5 stars.

Great maps explained by easy to understand text passages are the hallmarks of this user friendly and highly informative, not to mention interesting, book. GREAT BOOK, EVEN GREATER IF YOU OWN ONE!!!!!!!!!
AM A SECOND YEAR STUDENT OF ANATOMY, AND AM GOING INTO THE RADIOGRAPHER TECH PROGRAM AT MY SHCOOL I JUST BOUGHT THIS BOOK AFTER SEEING IT, AFTER SOMEONE BOUGHT IT. SO I ORDERED MY OWN COPY, AND AM TOTALLY BLOWN AWAY BY THE PERCISION OF THE BOOKS DETAIL ON EVERY SINGLE PHOTOGRAPH. I THINK THIS WILL BE A DEFINATE KEEPER, AND IF YOU ARE LOOKING AT THE PRICE WITH A SIGH, DON'T JUST GET IT AND ENJOY!~

My opinion about this book is a bit two sided and that's why:
A great anatomy text
I agree completely with the review by Gerald J. Nora.The book is first rate and does a fantastic job of showing the "real" anatomy as opposed to drawings where the artist takes some liberties.The text begins simple and builds upon it.The only down side is that the labels are not ordered in a top down fashion.For example, the labels may be: 3, 2, 4, 8, 7, 6, 5 which can be confusing.Overall the book is highly recommended as a reference to a traditional anatomy text. ... Wonderful resource, check for printing error
Very useful and about as accurate as you can get in a print edition, but a recent printing is missing some pages and has doubles of others.Check your copy, especially around pages 16-24.

Handy intermediate scale map with topography.
These gazetteer's offer a level of detail in between that of state travel maps and that of detailed county/city maps.They also include topography.They are handy for those traveling to various counties but who lack more detailed maps for each.They won't help much in the city proper, but are useful for finding one's way to various paved county roads.The drawback is that few county roads are labelled with their names on the maps (scale would need to be different for that.)

I found the maps useful for detailed travel in a small area.Of course they are MUCH better than the normal road map.Elevation information gives you an idea of what you can expect.My two complaints are: (1)the elevation information is difficult to see -- finding the actual elevation number to go with a line is very hard as there are few numbers and they are not highlighted to make them easier to find; and,(2) additional information about the type of road surface would be helpful for the adventurous. ... Best map
This is an easy-to-carry map that has everything you need - unless you want to go to Virginia or Maryland, then you need the map for those places.

Great map of DC
This map was a very helpful quick guide of Washington DC. It has the Metro stations clearly marked for quick reference when you don't want to "look like a tourist."I would definitely purchase the same type map for other cities.

Excellent map and current
I bought this map before taking a driving trip in the Yucatan in April 2006. It is an excellent road map and has current road information which is important because older maps are missing roads. Signage in the Yucatan can be very poor. I highly advise buying a road map if you're driving around the Yucatan at all! It saved us a few times from long backtracks after we missed turnoffs due to poor signage. ... Read more

Comprehensively useless.
A quick glance at this atlas, and it looks impressive. - Gradients, vegetation, and what appears to be every road and track that covers the state. BUT....
Just like all Delorme Atlases, it's great
I'm planning a trip to California shortly, but I lived there for many years as a child.The Delorme for Northern California joins my collection of about 10 other Delorme maps for other areas I have lived and visited.Being a birdwatcher, we in the birding community often give directions to birds by Delorme pages.Makes life SO much easier.Although it doesn't have every little street in some areas, it does have MUCH more detail than the average road map, and makes it wonderful when you're like me and just want to head off in a general direction to scout for bird territory, but not necessarily follow the same path back.Love Delorme Atlases... wouldn't travel without them.

Not A Pocket Reference
I bought these for use in backpacks and bugout kits.They are enormous measuring 11 x 16 inches.Perhaps not enormous, but a pretty large reference for a backpack.Perhaps NOT ideally suited for those looking for a pocket reference.

Atlas?
I've bought this atlas after reviewing all the options available on Amazon. This one was apparently the best one in terms of map quality and information available within; I have not seen any other atlas referenced by other reviewers so I will not make comparisons here.
Atlas of World History
Information is current, colorfully presented, and illustrated in a fascinating manner. Most would be happy to own this highly informative piece of reference material.

I Rate and Compare World History Atlas Books
As a reader I like to have quick reference books at my finger tips including a new version of the Oxford English Dictionary about 3500 pages long - that I use almost daily. So I decided to add a "history atlas". A good Boston resource, but only for downtown.
Admittedly, that's all these maps are supposed to be for, but still, given the importance of Cambridge to the greater Boston area, a bit more effort might have been made to squeeze in more of it - at least up to Harvard Square.That's a fairly minor quibble, though, and this map shows the usual Streetwise quality in all other respects.The colors of the MBTA subway lines on the map aren't quite right, but they're close enough for government work, and the street index is its usual indispensible self.If you're coming to Boston, snag one of these - they're much hardier than paper maps, and very clear. ... COMPLETE BOOK
This guide makes it so much easier, because in Los Angeles and Orange Counties, I would need numerous individual maps, instead of this single book.

A MUST-HAVE if you are new to SoCal or do a lot of driving
Since I started driving many years ago, I have always had a Thomas Guide. Even with the advent of GPS technology (a bit too expensive for me now), the Thomas Guide is invaluable. The latest version of the LA-OC guide has all the latest updates, which is very important with all the new construction in the OC. My 2001 guide was getting outdated, so I bought a new one.

A Good Tool, But Not The Only One
We used this atlas for a 2 week road trip through Spain, and found it to be very helpful. I had also mapped routes using various internet sources, and having this atlas was better as we could change our minds and pick other routes, if we felt we wanted to. Sometimes the numbers of the highways didn't match exactly, but that can happen at anytime, anywhere. Maps and atlases are frequently outdated as soon as they are printed. But this one gives the best information available here in the States, I think.
Ready to experience the road in Spain
Very good atlas, even found my friend's village high above the Ebro.

Easy to Read,
I've been using the Delorme maps for quite a while and I've always groaned that they're too busy, don't have regional maps, and that I couldn't get a quality sense of what really was there by the way the elevations were presented.I think I'm satisfied with the Benchmark maps.In a way, they seem like what I'd see if I looked at a satellite photo.The colors are very pleasing on the eyes, they have regional and national maps, and the recreation listings are on par or even better than those in Delorme. The representation of elevations is done with color, but there are limitations to this method, as in some instances several thousand feet of elevation are lumped together as one color. Benchmark is now my recreation atlas of choice--not the perfect all around atlas, but definitely closer to the goal.

We used this and a topo map of AZ to locate property and find alternative drives through Arizona.Being Coloradoians, we don't always take the path that is the easiest!Thanks for the great book.

Helpful for Tourists too
I first picked up the NFT guide for New York City in May of 2006 when I was looking for a tourbook for a long weekend trip I had planned. I now have the Chicago and Boston books as well.
Excellent guide book.
This guidebook's title is right on: it's not for tourists. It's for those of us who are moving to Boston and need good maps, information on T-stops and bus lines (very helpful, as no other guidebook I've seen shows bus lines), restaurants, bars, etc.We don't need information on fancy hotels and the Freedom Trail- for that, a different guidebook might do.But this is the one worth buying and keeping tucked in your purse or bag when you're out and about in the city.

Excellent little book
I bought this book shortly before my husband and I moved north of Boston. It has been a fantastic resource for our travels into the city. This is the only book you need to bring with you to Boston. No big, bulky map is necessary. It shows how to easily navigate the public transportation system and specific instructions on how to arrive at your destination. It is written in an unbiased, straightforward and sometimes humorous fashion.

Excellent Maps and Very Easy to use!
I highly recommend this atlas book. It has large maps, easy to use symbols, it loaded with colors and highly useful and interesting information. This atlas depicts all roads both big and small and tons of other useful information. It's nice to to look at different areas and discover new routes and attractions. Easy to read and use, invaluable when traveling in city or hiking in rural areas.Very detailed, provides names of area sites that are interesting to stop by, which are not included on road maps.

LACKS OF DETAILED STREET NAMES
I use this book occasionally, but it is lacks the detailed for use by itself.Where I do use it is with mapquest, that tends to not show the smaller lakes, but the Gazetteer does a much better job. ... Read more
